I stand corrected. It was the 2 in the second quarter that really put CovCath in a great spot. That's what I get for going off of memory

Thank goodness for game notes. If I had to go by memory, I would be in trouble.

Your comment above about the Beechwood running punt is a good point. It has positives and negatives. If a team prepares for it, then you are probably better off punting the ball normally if you have a capable punter like Slusher.

Best way to get great field position off of a punt is to make them punt from their end zone. I watched the 2nd quarter on hudl. He didn't rugby. He was just trying to get it away quickly as he was pressured on the 2nd one. He still got it to the 40 in the air on both. One took a good bounce but CovCath had a very good return, and the other took a bad bounce and was downed. I don't know how I was that far off.

Yes, Beechwood was very sloppy in that Cov Cath game. They killed their own drives with penalties and sloppy play then had to punt from terrible field position. It was a really good learning experience game for many of Beechwood's starters who had never faced a big game like that as varsity starters. We will find out tonight how much they learned in that CCH game.

What is the status of the 3 NCC defensive starters that either did not play against Newport or left the game early and did not return?

Not sure what three players you're referring to, but all NCC players are healthy and able to play. Coaches actually switched up the defense, and apparently for the better. They had a great game against Newport. Coaches like to keep other teams guessing, I guess lol.

NCC defensive backs will have a hard time tonight. I believe the offense will also struggle! They struggled with Lloyd and HC and gave up way too many points in those games to be considered a very good defense. Look for Slusher and Fieger to have big games. BW 31-7

NCC was missing a starting defensive back against both HC and Lloyd. His return will make a difference in both pass coverage and run support.
