That's a good questions Purple88! I would like to know that answer as well. I think OHS should drop Madisonville and Warren Central for the time being. I would like to see OHS pick up a game against Reitz, Gibson Southern or a solid Southern Indiana program. I wouldn't mind seeing OHS play a Louisville school or a Tennessee school either. I see no reason for OHS to not be at the level of BG and I think the Devils are moving that way. OHS will lose a lot this year but they have some unreal talent coming up. Quality depth is the key to championship football and I think OHS has the head coach and quality assistants to make that push to get to BG's level.
58, some good stuff in here! I honestly think if O were to increase their schedule as you've mentioned here that they would excel more than they are now, because as you've indicated there are very good talent guys coming. That's the time to make a move right! :thumb:

I agree Purple. Conventional wisdom says the Colonels will be over matched and running room will be hard to find. But anybody that's seen these teams play the past 3 years knows conventional wisdom goes right out the window. Something about the Red Devils just brings out the absolute best in the Colonels. In 2012 the teams were ranked around the same and it was supposed to be a good game. The Colonels ended up winning 49-21, and if I'm not mistaken at the end of the 1Q Henderson was up 42-0 and the subs were in the rest of the way. And I know last year going into the game Henderson Co. was pretty terrible and Owensboro was supposed to destroy them and the Colonels came away with a 44-18 win over them. Throw the records out when the teams play this game. Can't wait!

This is a better rivalry than most give it credit for! Will be an interesting game as the Colonels are making a good push into the playoffs!

They just signed new 4 year deals with all three of those guys. And to be honest no way you could pass on the money they bring in. Reitz game at Henderson over 7,000 people, Memorial and Gibson Southern over 5,000. Plus really good competition.

cols, sounds like an easy decision to me. Good $$$, Good competition; and pretty good rivalry seeing they are close to Henderson!:thumb:

Toothpick, I didn't know very much about Mayfield's football history, but this really opens the door for me. So basically for 50 years, Mayfield has been working through Coach Morris' and getting to the championship game and winning championships with significant regularity.

When you win 83% of the time, that's pretty outstanding!

We have been fortunate for 100 years for the most part as our 5TH place nationally in all times wins would indicate. By the way, MF has moved to 1 game behind Washington Massillon, OH for 4TH place in all times wins and should draw even this coming Friday based on the Cards almost certain win VS Webster Co and Wash. Mass being a big underdog Friday night.

Our current Coach Joe Morris is in his 17TH season and is currently 192-45 for a winning percentage of 81% and averages 11.56 wins per season through his first 16 seasons with 5 titles 3 runner ups.

Just teriffic stuff Toothpick!

Hard to get a full grasp of this! Mayfield is a truly remarkable program!
