Sounds like Chisolm is a heck of a football player.

As I always say when I question strategy the next high school game I coach will be my first so....

 

I don't get why Ryle kept passing last night DESPITE the running game killing Conner.

 

Conner dropped 8 in order to make passing difficult. The runs were working well. Yet Ryle continued to try to pepper Conner with passes. Yes, they hit some but they also kept the clock stopped.

 

They had the lead late and were running well yet threw incomplete passes to stop the clock.Conner was still in the game. Why go away from what's killing Conner AND stop the clock?

I know that Conner defensive coaches were scouting the Cooper/Ryle game the week before and I bet they thought they could play the same way Cooper did against Ryle and only rush 3 and play a 3-4 type defense. Cooper pretty much shut down the Ryle running game and Conner probably thought they could do the same, the problem is Conner's D-Line isn't as good as Cooper's and dropping 8 into coverage hurt them up front.

 

It's good to scout and see how a team is successful against another team, but you also have to have close to the same talent to do so.

Injuries affected this game too much. Both teams got a little banged up.

 

Yes I agree, looked like one bad leg injury for both Conner and Ryle. Hate to see that.

In the 3 games I have seen this season he is by far the best running back on Ryle IMO. I believe he is only a sophomore.

In the games I've seen this year for Ryle, how about the Freshman Kicker Molique. Putting up big numbers this season. The best kicker I've seen in NKY this season, has to be one of the top in the State. Top 15 in scoring for 6A schools. Virtually automatic on PAT's and FG's. A strong leg for a Freshman, and already receiving National attention.

Sounds like a great game. Ryle with the win now will have to wait to see if they will be the two or the three seed in the district. While Conner even though they lost will be playing for the one seed if they win and third seed if they lose. The Cooper Conner game will be a fun one to watch with the one seed on the line. Three very good teams in that district this year.
