Your opinion is wrong. Plenty of red cards are given when players lose their cool or can't realize they are in the wrong.

 

Refs can let things get out of hand and results could be reds but that is most certainly not even close to always the case.

Your initial comment.... "a red card only happens when the ref's let things get out of hand from the start".... is not realistic.

 

This implies that there are no other instances when a red may be issued, it also sounds like you are saying that it is never the fault of a player.

Did they read the "sportsmanship" credo before the game ?

Given that it's his second red card (I think) in about two weeks perhaps blaming the ref is a little misguided, unless I am remembering the red cards incorrectly.

It's not an opinion it's a fact. Case in point the emphasis Zidane head butt. Please explain how the ref is at fault.

 

The point is that emotions are running high in this thread and while in this case the ref maybe could have done something (I don't know I wasn't there) making a blanket statement like you did is inflammatory and irresponsible.

You even state in your response "something else" could of been done, so you believe it in some sense. Irresponibilty takes shape when an adult can't be preemptive and control the situation.

I would be quite interested in watching a soccer match unfold if we used your guidelines, as I understand them. It is one thing to control the game, controlling the behavior, or actions, of others is something entirely different.

Kind of find it funny when it comes to red cards and Scott (I believe they lead the state over the last few years) it is never their fault. Always read an excuse how it was the opposing team's fault. Man up accept fault and move on.

State red cards are public record, it appears Scott has 23 red cards in the last three Soccer seasons. That is an astronomical amount. If you look at other northern Kentucky schools you see an average of 2 red cards in the same time period.

Certainly the AD and principal have gotten involved right? I know of some schools' administrators that would never have tolerated this to this degree, would have been taken care of it long, long before it ever got to 23 red cards. How does khsaa allow this to happen? I was told a long time ago HS sports is an extension of the class room. How can a school tolerate this as being an extension of the class room? Can a program survive three straight seasons of this?

I think the correct number is actually only 20.

Only 20 still the most by one school in soccer.

No other person on here has mentioned the allegedly, "the coaches from Montgomery County jawing at the Scott goalie." And loud enough to be heard clear across the field, really? And there have been a few Scott supporters' post and no mention of this.

I find it very hard to believe, if any of this is even half true the referee would allow the MOCO coaches to "jaw" at the Scott keeper without giving the MOCO coaches a card. I find post #13 hard to believe.

 

The head coach from MOCO wasn't at the game. I assume it was there assistant coach. The coach was given a yellow.

 

I was in the press box and could hear the coach yelling; however I couldn't hear what he was saying. I will say this I wouldn't have wanted to be on the other end of it.
