Bigger Challenge This Week: Boyle County or Belfry?

Featured Replies

Boyle County and Belfry have spent the entire season ranked in the top three in Class 3A. Both open district play this weekend with games against opponents just outside of the top ten in the rankings. Boyle travels to Garrard County while Belfry hosts Lawrence County.

Which game of the two will be the most competitive? Which team (Garrard or Lawrence) is more likely to pull the upset? Would a loss by Boyle and/or Belfry say more about them or more about Garrard and/or Lawrence?

No disrespect to Garrard in any way, but Belfry faces the bigger challenge as I think the gap between Belfry and Lawrence is much tighter than the gap between Boyle and Lawrence.

Garrard's program is running at a higher level the last few years than in the past. They seem to have great administrative support and solid coaching including a very good head coach. That being said, this is not the year they will surprise Boyle. Pass defense is not there this year for a pretty good passing team. I also thought they should develop their own passing game a little more having Slade back there. I know coach believes only three things can happen when you pass and two of them are bad but I think he could have been developed into a pretty good throwing qb if they were more open to that kinda system. I would like to see them get healthy and shock somebody in the playoffs. Just not Boco please.

No way either team loses this Friday.

I agree. I seriously doubt either game with be that close.
