October 4, 201511 yr The Buckeyes deserve to be #1, though many forget they struggled last season through times and had to climb to barely make the Final Four. Some act as if they rolled through the 2014 season en route to the title like FSU the previous season. They will be fine, but something is amiss.
October 4, 201511 yr OSU is not #1 with Jones. Coaches have egos. I'm not sure if this is one of those situations where Meyer is saying, "I'm smarter than you and this will work." Hard to dispute the results he's had.

October 4, 201511 yr He's Ryan Harrowing Jones. :lol2: Not sure that is a good analogy since Paulson isn't the back-up, but I get your point.

October 5, 201511 yr Doesn't want to mess his future up. If he doesn't start to figure it out and play better, Jones will mess it up all on his own. Cardale was third string last year for a reason which we all are not privy to. I doubt his physical skills have changed much in a year. An opportunity of a lifetime came up and against all odds he led OHio State to pay dirt. It seems those intangibles which made him third string are resurfacing. A tiger doesn't change his stripes. I hope I'm wrong cause sure looks like Urban is riding this wave all the way.
October 5, 201511 yr I don't believe Cardale is the man for the job at OSU. Just hasn't been impressive at all, and I just don't think he's that good, to be honest. Elliot came up big for the Bucks today. I think he is pretty good but for some reason it seems they are not playing to his strength. I think he is basically a pocket passer that can be a bruising runner on designed power/ISO running plays. Jones is not a zone/read or option qb, that is what Barrett is better at doing. Having two good qbs that are effective in different ways makes it difficult to settle in offensively. Now, that it seems they have decided to stick with one qb, I look for the offense to improve steadily as the season goes on. To me this team is great and they know it, and they are going to have to fight boredom when preparing for some of the lower quality opponents on their schedule. I think everyone forgets sometimes that these are college kids and they might have trouble getting all amped up to play a team they know they should dominate. As the season goes on, they will continue to win all their games, and they will play their best vs the better teams(high profile programs) leading up to the highly anticipated November 21st match up against Michigan State. Then on that Saturday, OSU will open a can of whoop butt and dominate the green and white, leaving no doubt they are #1. Then what ever haters or doubters remain after the MSU beat down, will be silenced when they roll into Ann Arbor and lay the smack down on Michigan.
October 5, 201511 yr - I think ego has somewhat to do with it for Urban - I also think guilt comes in to play as well for Urban in that he feels he owes it to Jones for coming back to school - I agree with the above post. There is a reason Jones was never heard of until the final three games of last season. And while Jones was good, I never thought he was all-world, super human being some played him out to be during his run.
October 5, 201511 yr They need to make serious adjustments or they will be Dealt with by those 2 teams up north.
