St. Xavier 21 Pleasure Ridge Park 13

This is a very interesting score.

Comparative scores mean nothing....but this one raised my brow.

X needs to get it together or it will be tough sledding.

This game was another example of how having an offense that is nothing but shotgun and having no TE's is hard to run in the rain and the mud. The St. X offense has looked completely different in terms of effectiveness on turf as compared to the natural elements.

Hats off to PRP, though. They battled until the bitter end. They have some nice running backs and a good offensive line that commits to running the football. They also have a good defense. They are a QB away from having a really good team.

I know the spread offense is all the rage now, but I just do not understand why a team would never play with a TE and never get under center, even in the shadow of its own goalline. This could end up costing the Tigers in a playoff game on the road on a grass field.

Down here in Atlanta former Braves Pitching Coach Leo Mazonne used to do his "Bricks List" after only a month of the baseball season.

Basically he would take the teams that he saw that were so flawed, or the odds were so stacked against them, and even at such an early point in the season he would announce they were "bricks". This basically was him saying "They are already done...scratch them off the list"

He was always pretty accurate too.

If I had a Bricks list... St.Xavier would be trending towards it right now in a hurry.

^ Easy to say with Male and T in the mix. Just sayin.

Like the Cincinnati Reds in the same division as the St. Louis Cardinals amirite?

I don't follow baseball.

I don't know if the offense is the issue. The defense gave up almost 400 yds, that's what you should be worried about.

Next Friday should be very interesting. But then again - it usually is.

The offense does not help the defense by going 3 and out.

Next week will be interesting, but I'm also looking forward to the St. X-Manual game. It should be a very tight one, and I could see either team winning. It should establish the seeding in that district.

I agree this score is a head scratcher but if you are looking for a trend, the X offense obviously is struggling when faced with inclement weather & a muddy turf. This won't be the case Friday night on the artificial turf at Papa Johns so I expect a better X offense. But X's defense is what really would concern me, that's a ton of yardage to PRP considering what Trinity's D did to that PRP offense.

I listened to the game, and the offense wasn't the ones giving up huge chunks of yards on each carry, and they had the same amount of time of possession, so the defense wasn't getting tired.
