You are correct.

Congrats to Blake Morris, Scott Grizzle and Thomas Tolliver on making the 16th region all tournament team. You have had a great h.s. career at Raceland and represented your team and school very well :thumb: :thumb:

How Payton Martin didn't get put on the all-tourney team is beyond me.

He had 7 hits for the tourney, most of them in key situations. He played awesome 2nd base with a few spectacular plays.

On the topic of officiating, I watched every game of the tourney and IMO not one consistent game was called from behind the dish.

Congratulations Boyd Co.! Bring the title HOME!

:thumb: I couldn't agree more. Peyton should have been on the all-tourney team IMO.

:thumb: Rams went through three "3A" teams to the finals - Rowan, Ashland and Boyd. Congrats to the Rams on a great season. Ram players you can hold your head high, you have nothing to be ashamed about, had a school record setting season (25 wins, most in school history). As for the "blues", I obviously was not there but it does sound like that they were terrible - Ram fans lets not taint a great season by complaining about the umps. Bad calls are a part of the game, they shouldn't be but that is the way it is. Always has been like that and always will. I am not in to "moral" victories, we lost to a very good team as I think that the Rams have proven that they were a very good team also.

:thumb: Well said Rambler. And last night it wouldn't have mattered which team lost, both sides were upset at the umps. Neither team received an unfair advantage from them because they were horrible both ways. Which is really a shame considering that this was the regional championship game.

Anybody know the All Tourney team???

I had heard the same comments about Martin from some friends of mine who definately know baseball, I did not see the games, was unable to attend. Good luck to Boyd in the sectionals, when do they play?

Who pitched for both teams?

Umps were bad both ways. But the calls killed Raceland in the 6th. The tying run was walked in. Gatrell said it was a strike. Bowling said he was out at second on the steal play. I take nothing away from Boyd's players. These umps are to blame. The one at second just needs to retire. He never gets in postion to make the right call. As bad as everyone says the 15th region umps are, I wish officials were used from other regions for regional tourneys.

What about the other 3 batters he walked in the sixth? Bad calls there too?

I've stated also that the calling was lacking across the board, but to be fair the pitcher was throwing a lot of balls also.

I hope people reading this thread don't get the impression that Raceland is crying sour grapes, just because a few people can't get passed some questionable calls. Your Rams deserve more credit than that. Kudo's to the staff and players at Raceland. You're future looks bright to me.

Like another poster has already stated: Bad calls are apart of the game.

Kind of funny that I just spoke to Gatrell and he said nothing about telling anyone that the pitch was strike three. And Bowling is so shy that he doesn't talk to anyone. Sounds like you are making stuff up just so someone will feel sorry for you, but guess what, they don't. If you want to blame the loss on anything, blame it on several Raceland errors that allowed almost every run Boyd Co scored. The umpires didn't let the ball roll thru their legs, throw it over 1st base, or drop the ball on a cruciall rundown now did they. But yes I do agree the umps were bad, but I've stated all along that they were horrible both ways. So quit crying and move on!

I wish I could have been there to see the game. Too bad both championship games were played on the same night.

as for umps from other regions, I recall hearing that would be the case for the boys game. Did that not happen?

I know our area umps called the girls game.

Congrats to the Boyd players. But, they get an assist from ole blue behind the plate. Anyone that was at the game knows what kind of game he called. TERRIBLE. Raceland walked 7 batters in the 6th and 7th innnings. And this from a pitcher who had only walked 3 batters all year. The ball 4 call on Gatrell that tied the game in the 6th was awful. He looked at the ump with a surprised look too. it was belt high and Darby never moved his mitt. Right down the pipe. Errors did allow the 4 run 5th inning for Boyd, also with help from a blown call at second on a stolen base. The right call would have gotten Raceland out of the inning with 0 runs. That ump needs to finally retire. The people of Raceland are proud of our boys. They fought hard all night. It's a shame the ump behind the plate had to be so bad.

Wow, it didn't even take as long as I thought it would. Come on, everybody always blames the officials. Congrats to Raceland on a fantastic season. Good luck Tolliver in your future career.
