Boyd Co 6 Raceland 5 (8 inn) Region Championship

Featured Replies

Talking to Gatrell after the game. He said the called ball 4 was no doubt a strike. He was looking for a curve and was frozen by the fastball.

Of course he's going to tell you that, it's what you wanted to hear from him, right?

Umps were bad both ways. But the calls killed Raceland in the 6th. The tying run was walked in. Gatrell said it was a strike. Bowling said he was out at second on the steal play. I take nothing away from Boyd's players. These umps are to blame. The one at second just needs to retire. He never gets in postion to make the right call. As bad as everyone says the 15th region umps are, I wish officials were used from other regions for regional tourneys.

They told you what you wanted to hear. They won, they're trying to sympathize with you. They would say whatever you wanted to hear at that moment. Don't take anything away from these teams, Boyd won with their plays, Raceland lost because of lack there of plays, period. Umpires don't go out and bat, pitch, or field the ball. Give credit where credit is do, Congrats to Boyd. I have alot of respect for Raceland and it's community, I know this is only the voice of 1 sour fan. I hope people on here realize that because all of Raceland is not like this, the rest of Raceland is congratulating Boyd on their win and patting their boys on the back for a terrific season.

Thanks and no, we don't think all Raceland fans are like that. We were there and we all sawwho was crying the loudest. I would say that if anything, their mouths hurt more than helped. They were to the point of obnoxious and were an embarassment to the rest of the Raceland fans.

It was nice to see alot of the Raceland and Boyd Co players hugging after the game, consoling and congratulating each other on the game. It was a classy show of respect by the players on both teams.

:thumb: :thumb: Well said ukcatsfsan, I also feel that when the kids hear fans / parents complaining on the umpires or officials that it sends a bad message to them. I am a Raceland fan all the way, always have been and always will be. Sure I have seen games that the officials really cost a team and I will probably see them in the future, but like you said not really that many when you go back and look at mistakes made during the game that could have avoided the bad call costing you. Imo a kid hears fans going on about this and that gives them an excuse for losing. I didn't mean to go on but I am like you in that I think that it can take away from what the kids have accomplished all year. Just wanted to say that this is another Rambler that feels the same way that you do and I know of many others (most really) that also feel this way. Boyd co. players and fans - you have a fine team and good luck in the sectionals. Raceland players be proud of your record setting year, you have nothing to hang your heads over. Last night you got beat by a team that happened to play better, a couple of weeks ago (whenever your win over BC was) you were the team that played better and won. I hate that the loss was in the championship game as much as anyone but that is baseball and that is life. I am proud of this years Raceland baseball team.

:thumb: That is the absolute truth. Raceland has nothing to be ashamed of and the 2 games played between them this season just shows how equally matched they are. I wouldn't be suprised to see a rematch of this game next season for the Regional championship.

I thought they didn't allow parents on the buses after the game on the ride home. And it sounds like you might have rode the wrong bus home. Never heard of a another parent talking to players on the other team after a game unless you rode the wrong bus. Let it go and pat your team on the back and get ready for the next level.

I did not get to catch the game due to 12 hr work shifts, but sounds like an Exciting game. Glad to see the Lions pull another Region title off....Congratulations to Raceland on a Great Season and they should be tough again next year.

By the way, there is a couple of supposed Die-hard Boyd fans that hasnt posted on this forum...They must not post positive things.....They love to post when things are going bad at the County, but not when things are going good.....

Congrats to Boyd and good luck from this point on!

Some of us die-hard boyd fans have been there telling the team what a great job and didn't see the need to repeat it here in typing. And some of us even work out of town for a few days at a time and spend downtime sleeping instead of posting.

Keep it to the topic so we dont have to close this one also....:irked:

Didn't know you were expecting PMs. I've just been trying to keep to the forums. And with no one else talking about the middle school in the other forum I figured why rattle on.
