So, NewarkCathFan, do u feel Raceland is better than Newark Catholic? they seemed to handle PW pretty easily, going by the scoreboard, but in the maxpreps highlights it looked like they moved the ball pretty well agains NC. Ur thoughts?

Rams from what I got to see have a better offense than Newark Catholic, while Catholic has a better defense. I.M.O. Raceland would still take Newark Catholic by a couple of scores or more, if played at your place. If played here it would be closer, but the Rams would still win.

 

Would love to see the match up take place.

I read where Newark Catholic is open next year week one.

 

Though I have no ties to the school(I did not go there, just a fan) here is the A.D'S number. Maybe Raceland can call and set something up. I love to see a two-four year series.

Id love to see us drop East Carter and replace them with another OH team. Where is Newark Cath neway?

138 miles from Raceland.

 

Newark Catholic made the drive to Portsmouth this year, so it would not be that much more for them.

I am from Valley and we play West every year and know them very well as they are in our conference and I will tell you West is really down this year. This is not your typical West team. If Raceland plays like they did against us, it should be an easy win by 3+ scores.

I won't say they are bad or have a bad program. They have a good program in place, they have had a lotof injuries this year in critical positions and haven't been able to recover from that. They just haven't been able to overcome their losses this year and they are just having a bad year and haven't met the early expectations they had. Raceland is a better team and should win pretty easily. This is just not West's year.

RAMS ... You had a good showing last week but bottom line is that you lost. Had a lead and let it slip away. I Am Not slamming the coaches, players or anyone. My point is that although yes, you may have played your best game to date and are coming together, maturing as a team, playing as a team. Hang on to that and build it stronger.

My point is this ... Do Not be Satisfied with Losing..... ever.

 

I believe that this Raceland Rams team is on the verge of putting it all together, combine the potential of what this team "can become" with making it a Reality. When that Happens .....Then this Team will be Dangerous !

A Season is a Drill to get to and make a Run in the post season. RAMS ....FINISH THE DRILL !!

Raceland should win but don't know anything about Portsmouth West. Ashland played them when Matt Thomas was their maybe 8 years ago. They were decent back then. If they have speed and a lot of it, they could hurt Raceland. Still at home I'll take Raceland 28-14

I'll take the Rams in this one, but you can't ever overlook Portsmouth West, even if they are a bit down.

 

Valley seems to be the top program in our portion of southern Ohio these days. Anyone know how long they have been in existence? I don't follow Ohio football, but do know a little about the local teams and I don't remember hearing much about them until recently.

 

I remember back in the early 2000's Ironton, Wheelersburg, Portsmouth, and Portsmouth West games were all wars when those teams played each other. Those schools all seemed to hate each other and there was usually a lot on the line when they played each other. I miss those games.

Raceland has unknowingly and somewhat under the radar, been a little banged up. Some of the skill kids have been playing on some bad ankles, knees, etc. they r a tough bunch though and its only hurt them in two games, which were infact the losses. I dont think we would have beat Ashland, but a Healthy Davidson would have made the game alot closer, as we would have been able to do a bit more offensively. I think the team that played Valley would have lost by two true TDs to Ashland. That being said, I look for our offense to really open up in the 2nd half of the season. Now, I dont think we are going to score 50 points a game, but if we average 30 points a game, our defense will do the rest from here on out. With what is left on our schedule, I think teams will need to score in the high 30s+ to beat us.

And I havent seen anyone in our district/region be able to do that against proven quality opponents.
