Oboro seemed to wear down DC, 28-7 in 2nd half. Oboro handed them great position for their only 2nd half score. DC is better than I though they were and hung around for a while. Great hard running by Gross, James and Board. 1 TD called back on OHS also. DC without big WR in 2nd half, hope he's ok.

DC tied the game up 21 all in the 3rd then OHS scored 28 straight.MVP Landon Board the kid is turning into a heck of a back,he runs so hard and has pretty good speed.I thought the QB for Owensboro played a lot better game tonight. Good win for the Devils DC was no slouch.

No matter the final score, i came away impressed with DC in this one. They matched OHS blow for blow through the first half but ran out of gas late. I dont know if losing Stratton changed the players mindset but DC didnt seem to have the same pep coming out of the lockeroom. I dont think the Panthers got tired but they did not look like the same team in the 2nd half. I thought OHS dominated the line of scrimmage in the 3rd and 4th and that was the story. Landon Board is becoming a man child for OHS in the run game. Hes emerging as one of the best backs in western KY. Jalil Barrett continues to prove he is virtually untouchable when he gets the ball in space and i thought Zack Gross took a big step in the right direction for OHS tonight, tossing a couple of touchdowns. Both team can pull a lot from this one. DC proved it can go blow for blow with one of the states best 5A teams for a half. OHS's offense took a step forward tonight. If they can score 28-35 with that defense, they are going to be darn near impossible to beat.

Question for Owensboro fans: With Landon Board emerging this season, is he the #1 running back on the team now? Not trying to stir controversy; just an honest question. Also IMO, Jahill Barret is Owensboro's best player (not D-1 prospect, but best player). He just knows where to be and what to do in crucial situations and has god given gifts to excel at this level. He won't touch the ball a ton on offense, but when he does he can take it to the house. Just need to get him a longer set of cleats; Joking:thumb:

Shocked about the lack of interest in this thread. I thought this game was way over hyped since it was started.

There are some fans in Owensboro who believe Board may have been the best back on the team last year. He ran up and down the field in the Hopkinsville scrimmage last year. But then,for whatever reason,wasn't given very many chances to prove himself in the regular season. He's a nice looking running back thgh. As far as the game goes. It kinda went like I thought. The Red Devils broke a few big plays that just took the fight out of Daviess Co. in the 2nd half.

TJ is a great back, but it looks like Board is the better of the two. Coach Fallin is doing a good job of splitting up the carries. When i interviewed him this week he said they split carries and as the game goes on, he goes with the hot hand. That is exactly how it played out last night. I noticed James with more carries early, but Board took over in the second half. Must be nice to have two phenomenal backs. I agree on the statements about Barrett. He is a special player with the ball in his hands. If ive seen him in space 10 times this year, i may have seen him actually tackled twice. The rest of the time he ends up in the end zone.

 

As for the game being over hyped, i dont know that it was. If the hype helped drive that crowd, then so be it because Reid Stadium was PACKED. That is great for football in the Owensboro area. Its been a long long time since DC was up for the city county championship and i thought the quality of the game was very high. Up until DC lost Stratton, they were right there in the thing. They lost some guys along the way and OHS just wore them down up front, but i think DC has a lot to be proud of.

Any word on the young man's status? Know he is a very good player and hate to see him injured.

I think he just got his bell rung. He will probably have to pass concussion tests to return this week in a huge district matchup vs McCracken.

If he was diagnosed with a concussion Friday he can't have contact for 1 week. Does Daviess County do baseline testing?

Good deal! I might be wrong on the concussion for a week. I think it depends on the severity or what grade concussion it is.

I thought Daviess County played better then what the score showed. The DC defense did a good job in the first half but in the second half had a tough time keeping up with the speed of OHS.

The loss of Stratton both on offense and defense was a blow for DC.

Bouchard, the DC, QB, did a good job , he took some hard shots from the OHS defense but kept playing well. McEwen and Lecroy both had a good game on offense.

I think DC should give McCracken County a good game, hopefully the kids who were injured in the OHS game will be back for their district game.
