Also, kind of interesting that Ohio did not have any state high school football playoffs until 1972...

Northern Kentucky is very well represented this list. Check out the honorable mentions in the story.

I couldn't get the last 4 coaches to pull up.

High school football: Top 9 local coaching legends - Story

Pretty cool article..................... 4 Kentucky coaches on list:

Bob Lewis

Dale Mueller

Bob Schneider

Mike Yeagle

When I saw the title I was ready to post about my coach Bob Lewis. Incredible record. Even more impressive was taking a downtrodden program in Hebron and getting us to the state title game in his 2nd year. 1-10 as sophomores. Lost to Highlands in the playoffs in year 1 and then lost to Franklin-Simpson in the title game.

Most former Bob players still can quote lines and many of them deal with accountability.

Excuses are a poor patch on the garment of failure.

My kids can probably quote that they've heard it so many times.

I'm sure there are a lot of coaches that have made tremendous impacts on hundreds of our youth over the years that have never made a list like this. That's probably the way the coaches like it too.

Honorable mentions: Homer Rice (Highlands), Bernie Barre (Beechwood/Wyoming), Steve Rasso (Covington Catholic, LaSalle, Mariemont, and St Xavier), Owen Hauck (Highlands, Mt Healthy, Boone Co), Angus King (Withrow), Lynn Ray (Covington Catholic), Steve Klonne (Moeller, McNicholas), Tom Grippa (Beechwood, Fairfield, Elder, LaSalle)

Weird to think that I played against CCH with Coach Ray as a player and then my son played FOR Coach Ray.

I only met the man once. I'm a pretty thick skinned guy. Never in my life has anyone been a bigger jerk to me.

I remember you saying that years ago. Hard to picture based on my limited time around him.

That's all I hear is how nice he is.

I'm content knowing he's a good man and I caught him on a bad day. :thumb:
