Tryouts? Many teams are practicing as long as it is open to all students. What a loop hole if you ask me.

Coaches can be in there running drills just as long as anyone that wants to play is invited and participates.

If my memory is correct, this will be the fourth coach in the last five years for the Lady Dragons. How sad for a program that was a model of consistency for a number of years. It would be great if they can land someone who can stabilize things for a period of time.

I am hearing they are doing a (1) year fix because it is so late in the year, pretty good idea probably moving forward. It gives the administration time to find the right person and establishing a program. They had great teams not to long ago, but soccer/volleyball have really diminshed the basketball programs as of late. It will take alot of work to get them where they need to be basketball wise.

what does one year fix mean? wasting another year and changing coaches again next season instead of putting someone in place to get a year head start on rebuilding the program?

Finding someone this late in the game is not happening for rebuilding and establishing a program, people are in place already for that. If I am an AD it is the best solution. In the spring you can find the right person and move forward, have a good spring/summer/off season and start building relationships. That is really hard to do in October when it is "go time". The have made a good hire for this year, he will do a good job for them and is helping them out. Like I said I hate it for the girls.

Know for a fact that someone was available that could have gotten a head start on long term rebuilding that had been in the mix in the last interview process - apparently, OC hiring requirements apparently prevented them from getting an 'outsider' at this stage - however, as I say that, who is the person helping them out? Is it someone at the school/does that person have a chance to stay as coach if he does a good job?

He is retired, been a head coach before, and an AD, understands alot more than just basketball. However I dont think he wants to do it more than a year, I am not sure. He is helping them through all of this mess. Oldham County does not have any special hiring circumstances, they want someone in the building/teacher as they should in my opinion. Also in my opinion they are 4-5 years away from being competitive in the region, maybe not the district. Parents and community have to understand that, and the parents have a hard time believing that.
