Richard Shermans response to being called out

Featured Replies

I don't believe that's really Richard Sherman. Not that he wouldn't say those things, I don't know if he would. I just don't think he's gonna spend time posting on they guys site. Maybe I'm wrong. Has it been confirmed that's actually him?

I am with you. I find it hard to believe Sherman cannot spell his alma mater correctly.

I didn't actually read it all just seemed unlikely that it was him.

In the screen cap photo it is spelled "Stanford" but in the text recapping what was written on the web page it is "Standford".

But not hard to believe that it would be spelled wrong. Those Standford grads aren't exactly the brightest bulbs, right.

Before he started his news conference on Wednesday, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman had a few things to say.

He said he did not write a post that was being passed around on the Internet that addressed the Black Lives Matter movement, a post that many thought was written by Sherman. But he does have some thoughts on the subject.

The Tacoma News Tribune posted Sherman's news conference to YouTube. It's not something you'll see every day from an NFL player, but Sherman has never shied away from discussing all topics:

Sherman, who is from Compton, Calif., said he does not condone any violence.

"I don't think any time is a time to call for an all-out war against police or any race of people," Sherman said. "I thought that was an ignorant statement.

"But as a black man I do understand that black lives matter. I stand for that, I believe in that wholeheartedly. I also think there's a way to go about things and there's a way to do things."

Sherman discussed black-on-black violence and dealing "with our own internal issues." Sherman said he had his best friend getting killed, "and it was two 35-year-old black men."

"I didn't hear anybody shouting 'black lives matter' then," Sherman said.

Sherman also addressed criticisms against police.

"I don't think all cops are bad," Sherman said. "I think there are some great cops out there who do everything in their power to uphold the badge and uphold the honor and protect people in society. But there are bad cops. I think that also needs to be addressed."

Sherman has strong feelings on many subjects, and the Seahawks have a culture in which their players are allowed to speak their minds. Wednesday's subject was obviously important to Sherman.

"If black lives matter, they should matter all the time," Sherman said.

The funniest part about this story now is that the thread title can stay the same. The real Richard Sherman is being called out for his real response now. :lol2:

He's being called out for saying what lawcat posted?

He's being called out for saying what lawcat posted?

Yes. By black people.

Yes. By black people.

I thought he pretty much nailed it. What's the reasoning behind the backlash?

Some blacks disagree with him. I was listening to a podcast and when they said he was wrong in what he said I turned it off. We have always been our own worst enemy. It gets old and nauseating. I understand exactly what he is saying but IMO when blacks express an opinion on race and other blacks publicly disagree then it just creates more division and confusion.

I don't know what there is to disagree with within his statement. Pretty much nailed it on the head.
