September 14, 201511 yr A friend and I were talking over the weekend about different things that used to be fairly prominent, yet sort of faded out without many giving much thought. (Not necessarily talking about new technology taking it's place, though.) Thought I'd mention a few that we discussed, and see what everybody else can add. Remember when Wal-Mart promoted the heck out of their products being "Made in the USA"? Remember when the largest size drink you could get at Wendy's didn't come with a lid? Instead it folded at the top like a cardboard milk container, and had a little plastic clip that slid on to keep it closed. Remember when there was a "You Make The Call" commercial/segment on NFL football games? They'd show a portion of a play, then pause it and ask what the ruling should be, then break for a commercial, before returning to show the result. Remember when credit card usage wasn't considered "normal"? It was strange to see/hear advertisements with "Visa and MasterCard Accepted" included in them. What else you got?
September 14, 201511 yr Remember when you could talk on a payphone for a LLLLOOONNNGGG time for just a dime? And you could sit down in some of those phone booths? Remember when there was a Burger QUEEN? Remember when bell-bottoms were thought of as a safety hazard in school? And the back of your hair could not touch the collar of your shirt? Remember when you carried a "gym bag" along with your books. Heck, remember "gym clothes" that everybody had to wear? Remember when paying with cash was the norm and credit cards were kind of rare? Remember when you could "run faster and jump higher" in PF Flyers? Or was that Red Ball Jets? Edited September 14, 201511 yr by OlDog75
September 14, 201511 yr Author I forgot one... Remember when cell phone plans came with a certain number of "anytime" minutes and "nights/weekends". You'd have to wait until at least 7pm (or more likely 9pm) during the week, to get the call for "free".

September 14, 201511 yr Remember when the Reds were really good? Remember when popular music was worth listening to? Remember when you did math with a slide rule? Remember when Bill Cosby was a TV dad instead of a dirty old man? Remember when Jared Fogle just wanted to squeeze into his own pants instead of some little childs'? Remember when marriage was between a man and woman? (sorry Kim)
September 14, 201511 yr When quarts of motor oil came in cardboard type cans? When you could actually tune your own car? When bucket seats were an option? When you got a real full size spare when you bought a new car?
