For a comparison a notch below Central and a notch above Western

Sorry, before getting on this site, I knew NOTHING about football in the western part of the state (other than when we traveled to Murray for the semi-finals in 2013). Now I know, well, pretty much still nothing. What class is PT, and are they considered a contender in that class this year?

 

Tilghman is in 3A and will battle Caldwell County for the district. With the emergence of Elizabethtown region 1 looks like a three horse race. Adair Co. and Union Co. have quality teams but would be considered low percent to make it out. It appears Boyle Co. is the favorite in region 2 with LexCatholic and Central lurking in the shadows. A trip to the semifinals might be the pinnacle for PT. I believe Boyle would be too much for them but they could hang with the other two on a good night. Beyond that, I feel Belfry would be too much and not sure about Corbin or Russell. Hope this gives you a better feel and lets you draw your own conclusion of contender.

I wish Mayfield would posts stats. Arnett has to be hitting on about 85% of his passes this year.

Mayfield dominated 90% of the game. Other than the 2 fumbles that led to PT scores , PT never really moved the ball. We are very good at distributing the ball to all the players, The Arnett boys had fine games, each on their side of the ball.

I think PT will be right there in the hunt. They had a huge week 1 win 21-7 over a strong 6a team in McCracken Co, who in the last 2 weeks have blown out Warren Central and Madisonville. They contended with Central Hardin, another strong 6a team, for 3 quarters, before CHs size and depth took over late. It's easy to downgrade them after a loss like this, but, truth is, Mayfield's really, really solid this year and would do the same to a lot of quality teams this year. One thing about Tilghman, they always play a quality non-district schedule and there record may not look great at season's end, but, they'll be well tested and ready to go come playoff time and typically make long runs when it counts.
