Villa Madonna Junior Geoff Lamping pitched a great game to hold the Juggernaughts to 2 runs. Villa once again advanced runners into scoring position by using small ball and smart base running. Lloyd threw Mailey who also pitched pretty well for them. Very good game all in all. Sloppy baserunning hurt Lloyd in the game as a runner was thrown out stretching a single into a double on a misplayed ball in the outfield, and picked off on first in the 7th.

Kyle Herbstreit can pitch against any of the big boys and do well, so the question really is, can the rest of the team hit the big boys, and from what I have seen no........ but then again who would have thought that VMA would win the District...... If Villa draws St. Henry, or CovCath then it's one and done, but if they get lucky and draw HHS maybe just maybe....

 

Note:

St. Henry, HHS and CovCath where my losers picks but HHS and St. Henry still have a chance to win their District games....

Villa has played the big boys this year, not with great success, but hopefully the speed of the game will not shock them. Good pitching and defense can give you a chance any day of the week. Lloyd just goes to show it can be done. That's why you play the game.

The bats have more potential then proven. Its a great win for Villa, Villa players, villa coaches and Villa fans. From each and every Senior on the team it's truely surreal. From the start we had to the good ball we're playing now it's night and day. I think a lot of us are still a little shocked. All in all we're pumped and ready for whoever the luck of the "draw" throws at us. we will definitely see what happens.

 

Apparently the state is somewhat in shock over the win as well. VMA win a District... NEVER!

Congratulations to the Villa madonna squad. You all have really shocked alot of us, but imo your postseason success just goes to show that any team willing to work hard can accomplish anything. A lot of heart and soul and will has helped you all win this. Good luck in region and remember this.. "Hard work will beat out talent any day.."
