My guess is that Henry Clay will move to #3 in the Maher rankings after the loss....

Henry Clay took a 1-0 lead probably ten or fifteen minutes into the first half and then controlled possession for the majority of the half. Sanders scored a goal for SH on a PK after Henry Clay is called for a takedown in the box to tie the score in the first half.

 

The SH coach must have had a very good motivational speech at half time because the Cru came out with a lot more energy to start the second half and possession was much more even. Sanders scored the second goal for the Cru off of an assist but I can't recall who made the nice pass.

 

Both teams had chances they didn't convert in the second half. More for Henry Clay than St. Henry but the Crusaders hung on to win.

 

On behalf of Henry Clay I will say that the foul that was called to give SH the PK looked questionable at best from my vantage point. It appeared that the defender came in and got the ball clean and then DJ tripped over him. That said, the CR was a lot closer than me and had a different angle. The Henry Clay section which was on that end of the field displayed their displeasure with the call loudly.

Correct typo

St. Henry keeper Tate Johnson played an outstanding game. Numerous saves to prevent HC goals. He also kept the defense organized against a very strong Henry Clay attack.

Tate Johnson has looked very impressive the couple of times I've seen him this year. Great asset for SH.

#5 South Oldham lost at home 2-1 to #30 Kentucky Country Day at South Oldham. St X next plays #7 3 Male so they're not set with a big point move. #7 Daviess County lost at home 4-2 to #1 Bowling Green, so they won't make headway. #1 0 CCH has #1 37 Holmes and two more Ohio schools on the near term horizon so prospects of upward movement in Maher are limited for the short term. I'm guessing HC away loss won't greatly effect where they sit with Maher.

 

Maher Rankings are only interesting. No one is going to buy a ring at the end if the season that shows their final Maher Rank. We're all hoping someone from NKY is buying rings that say KY State Champs.*

 

*If it happens to be the "All A" variety, then please add that qualifier so that people don't get bent out of shape when they see your ring.

Hmm... Another PK for St. Henry... someone will get a bit of a bad reputation for falling/flopping in the box if not careful. I saw that call last night. Clearly not a PK.
