Last time I checked Broussart single A won All state 2 years ago. Then won there region losing to eventual state champion Dunbar in I believe the sweet sixteen . Then last year lost in the finals of the all a and made it to the region final . Both years having a record around 15-6-3 . And that's against schools of all sizes Cooper,Campbell,Boone ,Cch ,highlands. Pretty good for a school with a total enrollment of around 250 kids total.

We'll have to agree to disagree but I think you are looking at this in a way to competitive manner. This is a game and should be fun. No offense but some of the most memorable moments I had while player were low pressure games where I could talk with the opponents at a dead ball and rehash non soccer related things. If it is done right everyone should walk away from these contests having gained something.

To put in perspective, if it were legal, do you think cov Cath would turn down the opportunity to play against Barcelona? Heck no, they would get hammered but the experience would be useful and fun.

OTB don't think I am comparing Cov Cath to Barca either. Lol.

Personally my favorite games were the ones where you had to battle every second, nothing was given to you. The games where you went up against very good opponents, opponents that shared abilities, work rates and appreciation for each other. And beating these teams with my teammates and beating opponents 1v1 is how I describe having fun. Not that I didn't have fun playing in practice, a scrimmage or simple pick up game, but those are just that. The real fun is the competition, proving to yourself, your teammates, coaches and opponents that you are as good or better then them.

The games that were one sided and as a starter sat on the bench for 95% of the game and watched the 3rd and 4th string slush their way around were not memorable to me.

To each his own. I said memorable, not necessarily favorite. I also played for w team that didn't have that many players to go to a 3rd 4th or in many cases 2nd string.

There's also the issue of Cooper just starting to compete with better teams. Since this is the case it's a little harder to get the Dunbar, Henry clay, trinity's to schedule a game. There for you try to get your foot in the door playing other not so top notch teams then fill in games with other schools such as Calvary, ncc and st. Henry. It took me 2 years of regional final appearances to even get the big teams to return an email, so you play who you can and make the most out of it. A game like Cooper/ Calvary takes the place of a training session, instead of competing against the same guys you've been with since mid July you get to see something different. In my opinion (I don't know much) it's not a bad thing to have a game or two like this. Gets kids in that don't normally play and gives others a rest and a chance to cheer for their teammates.

I'll simply let our soccer program's success speak for itself.

It's crazy to think that this thread has generated so many posts. Anyway, it's great to see it on the soccer forum. Generally, any info is hard to find on the soccer threads. Nice to see for a change.

Nobody can disrespect Bishop Brossart's soccer teams over the last several years. They are always competitive and play a physical-type of game. You better be ready to play when BB is on the pitch.

Speaking of... I'll be down at Pendry tonight when Boone and BB play one another. I wish both squads an injury free and fairly officiated tilt. Of course, I am biased towards one of the teams.
