I wasn't able to attend, but through numerous updates with parents and players (I'm young enough where I went to high school with the seniors and juniors) and East played pretty well! The score I have received was 33-44. Running back Darin Phillips ran the ball extremely well and the team looked good as well.

 

Tug Valley was 11-2 last year in I think Class A in West Virginia.

Ah. Apparently the scrimmage was really good. The boys from East I talked to were amped up and would've went all night. They're excited to take on West Union this coming Friday in their regular season opener and really believe they can win every game on their schedule. While that sounds cliche, this young coaching staff has the team feeling confident and excited for the season.

Sounds like a good showing for East. I'm ExCITED about what Coach Champlin is building.

Great to hear about East and very excited for their players. After coming off of the season they had last year and to play well against Tug, a team that defeated Paintsville last week in a scrimmage, has to give them confidence going forward. Best of luck to the Raiders this coming season.

I watched the full game and East look much improved offensively than they did last week. I saw more variety in the playbook and it helps that Darin Phillips ran as hard as he did. He was close to or over 200 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns.

 

They didn't throw the ball that much but Taylor Hickle connected with Dalton Whitt on a beautiful 50 yard pass.

 

They had a quarter where they made a few mistakes that made this a loss for them. That's what scrimmages are for though. If they put 4 quarters together they win this game handily.
