Mayfield 21 Milan (TN) 15 Scrimmage

Yikes! As a DeSales fan, would someone please post something about the scrimmage that gives me some hope????? :-)

If it makes you feel better Milan wasn't exactly a vintage form powerhouse in 2014.

They got smacked hard by eventual champion CPA twice and Calpreps gave them a rating of 34.6 (4th in 3A)

DeSales had a Final Rating of 37.9.. Maxpreps says Desales 2014 would have won 20-17 over 2014 Milan

The bad news... I think Milan returns more than DeSales though.

The Milan street talk is that they expect to be better this year than last due to the strength of a 30 player junior class that they feel is the best class they have had in years. They had the only losing season I can recall 2 years ago and started slow last year before turning it on mid season and advancing to the state semi finals where they were as Atlanta Cat said "smacked hard" by the eventual state champs. In years past the Milan scrimmage has been pretty much a 100% accurate measure of how our season would turn out. In other words, when we have looked good against Milan we have won hardware or runner ups.

That definitely has seemed to be the case.

Who would you compare Milan to in the State of Kentucky most years?

Maybe somewhere between Christian County and John Hardin? Paducah Tilghman?

Desales Dad, you and your team have nothing to fear, the Cardinals will be solid in the speed department, but there are still areas of concern, such as line strength and secondary coverage. Alot can happen between now and playoffs, but we did look pretty good against Milan, and they had a pretty good team. I think Desales depth could play a big factor in any game they play against a 2A school. Mayfield will probably be lucky to dress out 40.

I see you are your usuall optimistic self this season !

Good question, they remind me of a Graves Co, Belfry, Murray caliber team. Stong physical team with great running backs and strong defense though they throw more than a Murray or BelfryIn quickly running a head to head from 2014 on Calpreps they beat everyone of Mayfield's schedule except McCracken Co and Mayfield. They also beat Cov Cath, Desales and John Hardin.

I have to keep you on your toes Snake!
