I had a family member that had pre existing conditions that would be much worse off health wise, if not dead, without this law. She has not been on welfare and worked her rear off her whole life, so this has been good for her and many like her.

The old system had its flaws and there are some good features in Obamacare (the pre-existing conditions is definitely one of them) but there were far better alternatives to the overall mess that is Obamacare...and it will only get worse as it is fully implemented without the "temporary fixes". It does accomplish the main thing Obama wanted though...more government control of our lives...

I know that Republicans want to repeal the law, which won't happen under this President. They have, since 2010, had the time and opportunity to put another plan on the President's desk. They have not done that, mostly because they can't agree on what it should look like. The same problem we have had for the last 40 years with Presidents and Congress from both parties.

 

Like it or not, Obama got something passed, those in Congress need to put a plan together that is better (and there might be one) or just move on. Just saying that you will repeal it carries no weight, just rhetoric.

Hospitals very rarely just write it off. Taxpayers or insurance carriers pay for it somewhere. I don't see how this is a good thing.

I said what I meant. The rates are not affordable and the deductibles and out of pocket are ridiculous. For most of those bronze and silver plans, you would do just as well not having insurance.
