New turf at Newport

I was on 471 today and noticed new turf going in at Newport. Was this already planned or being done due to the flooding. No more staph infection....

Are they going to do this every time it floods?

Good question. I assume it was cleaned well after flood but maybe didnt pass the test. Its location gives the field a solid chance of flooding often. Maybe they should put the NewCath logo at mid field

This turf was fairly worn and not in great shape before the flood. It had faded badly and was matted down. It probably was a year or two overdue for replacement without the flood.

I agree. I was on the turf last season and was in TERRIBLE shape!

It was already planned folks. The flood had a little bit to do with it, but wasn't the reason. This was planned a while ago.

And to answer your question, no. It will not happen every time it floods.
