Could Cooper have been built in a worse spot??

Featured Replies

Continued prayers for the Cooper Nation and all those involved.

I know several Cooper families through club soccer and just living in close proximity. I was going to text them to ask for updates on the victims. Then I had the awful realization....what if I'm texting someone whose child was involved?

Try driving it in a big FedEx truck. It's even worse at night with ZERO street lights.

Prayers sent.

I drove that Camp Ernst route twice a day for 4 years. Beautiful scenery with the rolling hills. Fortunately I seldom made that drive in the dark.

One of the kid's mothers has posted several things on facebook. Earlier this morning, she posted that her son is in stable condition. He has several injuries including bleeding around the brain area, fluid in his lungs, several broken bones in his face & one in his neck. She ended the post with "And please buckle up when you're in the car."

Oh my goodness. Glad to hear he is stable. Hope we hear only about improvements from here on out.

Any news on the others?

So, so sad. I really hate to hear things like this for the kids and their families. Such a terrible accident.

On the bolded: This 1000 times over. Regardless of age or how long you've been driving, where you are sitting, distance of your trip, or how many times you've made the trip before, this 1000 times over.

Heard the kids are now "stable."

Let's remember my fellow Conner Cougar Phil Hester who was driving the other car that was hit. He has a son at Covington Catholic. I think he is doing OK. Not sure.

The news report said the driver of the vehicle with the kids "over-corrected" on a curve.

I saw that as well.

Praying for improvement updates so that all make a full recovery.

Buckle up, everyone!

Phil Hester, driver of the suv, has a broken femur in one leg, crushed ankle in the other leg, and broken ribs. He had surgery on the femur Sat. morning. He's been in extreme pain, but his wife said they are extremely lucky he's alive and their children weren't in the car with him. He looking at least 3 months to recovery and physical therapy and could be up to 6. He was headed to a track meet at Cooper.

Stable only refers to no further deterioration - it is not truly a sign of any improvement. Both boys have multiple, serious (critical) injuries and issues. Please keep them and the driver of the other vehicle in your prayers, as well as the young woman driving.

Bad/sad news on multiple fronts coming in this incident today or tomorrow.

As a parent who has to send their kids out on Camp Ernst Road every day, I hold my breath until I know they have arrived at their destination and then again when they are heading home. Pulling out of Gunpowder Trails is death-defying during the school "rush" hours especially, but bad all summer too with Central Park. Bad in winter for obvious reasons. Another subdivision said to be breaking ground this year on Longbranch. More congestion, more teen drivers likely, same scary roads.

I hear the school board got the land very cheap where Cooper and Longbranch Elementary sit now. All of us are gonna be paying for it, I think.

Turning from Longbranch to Camp Ernst is a nightmare when the traffic is busy. You're basically turning blind hoping you don't get blindsided.

^I don't have any information. I can't imagine the heartache for the entire Cooper family.

Let's all lift them in prayer.

I hate to be that guy, but it begs the question: Did Boone Co. get too big too fast, population-wise? I have always had a hard time believing that the county could possibly safely keep up with all the expansion, infrastructure-wise.
Instead of building several Taj Mahal libraries, they should have spent the tax revenue more wisely on roads.
