Pitching Machines

Featured Replies

I am looking at getting a pitching machine for our little league.

Are they worth it?

What brand is recommended?

What type? Mechanical or electric?

Yes, they are worth it, especially at younger ages. You can get through a round of BP pretty quickly which makes it a nice time saver. I'm not saying rely on it for all BP, but it's really nice to have to save arms (and I'm mostly talking about us rag arm coaches. It can also be used to throw fly balls to outfielders (and infielders), and to get catchers work on blocking balls in the dirt and just receiving in general. It's also great for breaking in mitts.

JUGS machines are the gold standard and I would look at two wheel vs a one wheel as you'll be able to use it all the way through high school...the one wheel machines top out around 60-65mph. They run between $2000-$2500. You'll also want to invest in an L screen.

We are looking at JUGS, ATEC, and BSN Sports has one called The Bulldog Pro.

THIS.

They also do a great job with outfield practice when adjusted to shoot fly-balls.....although it puts a NASTY backspin on the ball:lol2:, but it teaches players to use 2 hands.

I have a Casey Pro 3 in excellent condition. Now that my sons college playing days are over there is no reason for me to hang on to it. You can Google it but it throws 90+ and I have ball feeder and bucket balls. $1200.. PM me if interested. I'm in NKY.

Just for the consistency of the pitches alone you will cut your BP time by a 1/3 to 1/2.

Is it the one that throws curve balls etc. also?

Yes, throws curves as well. I'm told it's the one the pros have used for years but can't confirm.
