Final at CCH

Nice win for Ryle.

Lefty Ryan Hughes picks up the win in relief. Both teams hit the ball well but the difference was on the leather side of the field. For whatever reason, the Blue Colonels had a bad day with a combination of throwing and fielding errors to give up extra bases and runs. Ryle was very sharp in the field. I would guess that Ryle had 12 hits and CovCath probably had about the same. Vince Murray and Garrett Wagner led the Raider attack with 3 hits and Rainer Oliver had 2. Blaze hit the only dinger of the game with a shot to center in the first for CovCath. I can't imagine Coach Krump's post-game speech.

I have not had the opportunity to see CCH in a few weeks. It sounds like their D is really hurting them.

I believe of the 10 runs there were 9 unearned and CCH's Defense had 9 or 10 errors.

Ryle hit the ball well in addition to CovCath's defensive miscues. It seemed like half of the errors just gave extra bases to runners who were already on base.

Raiderbback04 was being very nice about saying CovCath had a bad day in the field, I would call it almost like watching a first year Tee-Ball team. For at least the fourth time this season, a ball was hit back to the CovCath pitcher who fielded the ball cleanly then turns to throw the ball to second base to start a hopefull double play to get out of the inning, or at worst get the advance runner and the second out of the inning, but again the CovCath SS and 2nd basemen get in the way of each other and both runners are safe. Instead of getting out of the inning with a double play, or with a runner on first and two outs, now you have runner on 1st and 2nd and only 1 out. It went downhill badly after that, and Ryle scored I believe 7 runs in the inning with even more shoddy defensive play.

 

This game was a 180 degree change from the game on Monday when I congratulated CovCath for finally playing a complete game at bat and on the field. I know some CovCath fans hate when I write negative about the team, but how could anyone watch this game and not just shake your head . If I were the Coach, some of the starters would be sitting the bench, until they learned to keep their heads in the games. Physical errors which drive me up a wall, I can at least live with, but the constant mental errors, are something that I have seen far too often from this team...

I dont know what you were watching on that double play back to the pitcher. But the SS and 2nd baseman were in the right spot it was a terrible throw from the pitcher. I know you like to criticize the INF's a lot but this one wasnt there fault.

Right...12 solid base hits, most of the CCH errors were after the play errors, throwing wild behind runners ect. I only recall one CCH infield error on a batted ball.

It was good to meet a guy who I guess is older than me. I am not normally accused of being nice so I appreciate that compliment.

Sounds like the feilding for CCH kills them once again. They have to turn the infeild around and fast.

Champs05 one or the other should have been there, but not both and from what I saw the throw looked ok to me.....

 

How can you not be upset with the play of the team on the defensive side of play today, when you give up 9 unearned runs (by your own statement). The outfield made some mental mistakes by missing the cut off man, but the infield.........

Let's not let the CCH errors overshadow the Radier win... the walks and the base hits scored more then 5.
