I read all of Chief's articles and I'll be honest, as good of fit as he'll be at Mercer County, he might be a better fit at the Harrodsburg Herald. Great post coach!

Great article. Excited to have Coach Buchanan leading the Titans. Everyone loves to win, but the experience of playing high school football is far more. It's about a sense of brotherhood, learning to push yourself beyond what you thought was possible, sacrificing for and with your brothers, and taking care of one another on and off the field. It's about building relationships that last beyond graduation. Coach Buchanan seems to get this.

Was hoping you'd stick around for another 8 years, so my son could complete his HS career under you. :) very excited to see what Coach Thomas has in store for the Royals.

This is no doubt one of the best post / articles that I have ever read in my 9 years on BGP. Chief Smoke, I have never met you (would love to one day meet you) but I can honestly say that reading your post through the time on here that you are one class act. Obviously, you former player, asst., now head coach of Mason Co. is as well.

I wish you nothing but the best in returning home to Mercer Co. as well as I wish the Mason Co. Royals and coach J. Thomas great success.
