April 16, 201511 yr Let's get a discussion going. Dead period of the NFL is awful. 2 weeks to get there and we don't have a thread on it yet.
April 16, 201511 yr Author Who do you guys want your favorite team to take? Who do you guys think will bust? Who is gonna be a superstar? Where do we think Mariota will go? Will Winston go first overall? Some favorite non-first round players you are a fan of?
April 16, 201511 yr Everybody knows Cleveland needs a qb but Winston will go #1 and Mariota probably #2 . If Mariota falls to #1 2 (an unlikely scenario) they should take him. Realistically, to get Mariota they will have to move up and that will cost the Browns 3 first rnd draft picks--2 this year and one next year. That cost is too high so forget Mariota. The Browns have many needs but none is higher than to stop the run. I hope they get NT Danny Shelton out of Washington State at 12. They also desperately need an edge rusher to complement Kruger who had 11 sacks last year. Typically, you want your edge rushers to combine for 20 sacks. Fowler from Florida will be gone by #1 2. Beasley from Clemson would be a good pick if he is still available or DuPree from KY is also of interest. Gregory from Nebraska, though explosive like the weed having flunked the marijauna test at the Combine--what an idiot. Like he didn't know the when the test was. The Browns don't need any more players with substance issues. Another need the Browns have is at WR. Who will be available for their #1 9 pick? Cooper from AL will be gone, White from WV, gone and Parker from Louisville may also be gone by #1 9. So here is what I think is realistic for the Browns and will meet some of their biggest needs... #1 2 will be NT Danny Shelton from Washington State #1 9 will be OLB Alvin DuPree from Kentucky. An alternate pick at #1 9 could be an available WR such as Perriman from Central FL or Strong from Arizona State. But then again, the Browns could strengthen their O-Line by picking Cameron Erving from FL State. He can also play Center and that was a problem when Mack went down this year. Picking Cameron would give the Browns a really strong O-Line. It's hard to be a GM and decide what is the best pick at a given spot.
April 16, 201511 yr The whole San Diego/P.Rivers possible trade scenario is an intriguing one. I'm not sure how Tennessee turns that down if it's on the table. Rivers is a far better QB than any QB in this draft will ever be IMO. He'd expedite the rebuild substantially.

He'd expedite the rebuild substantially.I agree, but if you listen to him, he might just say forget it and walk away. Now, I doubt that kind of coin is something he'd pass up, but still.

Rivers is a far better QB than any QB in this draft will ever be IMO. He'd expedite the rebuild substantially. The Titans roster is so awful. They have so many holes they fill. If I was Rivers no chance I'd go to the Titans. They are in year 1 of their rebuild.
April 16, 201511 yr Author I personally have 3 players for my Jags at 3. Personally I want them to take Amari Cooper. I'd be ok with Leonard Williams. I feel like those are the 2 safest picks in this draft. Wildcard for me is Vic Beasley. Every mock has the Jags taking Fowler Jr which I would be ok with I just think Beasley is better for what they need. Outside of those 3 maybe 4 I want to see them trade down. 2nd round I want Jay Ajayi from Boise State.
April 16, 201511 yr Author Would be very interesting if the Vikings are on the clock at 11 with DeVante Parker on the board. Will they pair him back up with Bridgewater?
April 17, 201511 yr A bit more about the Browns draft situation: They have not had Mariota in for a private workout and they have no plans to. Does this mean they are not interested? Not hardly. The Browns don't need to give him a private workout. They know more about Mariota than any other team (except maybe Chip Kelly and the Eagles). The Browns new QB coach was the guy that prepared Mariota for the combine and ran his pro day. Kevin O'Connell spent several months training Mariota and getting him ready to answer questions regarding the pro style offense. So, the Browns already know what they want to do with Mariota. Draft day should be interesting.
April 17, 201511 yr For the Bengals, one of the top Tackles. Collins won't be there but apparently they like Flowers.
April 17, 201511 yr I think the steal of this draft is Ifo Ekpre-Olomu from Oregon. Possibly the first CB taken had it not been for an ACL. He'll drop to late 2nd at the earliest. I think he could be had in the 3rd. Won't be ready til midway of the season.

They did the same thing with Aaron Colvin last year. He was a projected 2nd round pick, tore his ACL at the Senior Bowl and Jags got him in the 4th. Started last 5 games of the season and he played extremely well.
