Spelling not that important as there were no uniforms there to represent which is a telling sign that kids are finding better programs on an up swing ... How ever it's spelled there are others dogs in the yard now !!!!

We have 11 teams that travel on the exposure side of this. We do not generally play "AAU" per say. Like the above poster said we focus on playing in front of the college coaches so our kids get exposure and get into a right fit with a full ride at a college where they will be successful. Fact is college coaches dont care anything about D1 or D2 AAU Nationals. Every kid is the next WNBA star at that age. The big programs laugh about this as its used for a money pit or "bad basketball" at that age. Parents are spending tons of money going to the same tourneys over and over. At that age parents and kids would be far better off paying for individual instruction than playing bad basketball for the most part and picking up bad habits. We see this every year when kids are old enough to come to the exposure side of this and have to be taught the game, the real game. Want to see the real stuff. Come to Franklin Tenn tomorrow at AGame. The girls EYBL league stop starts there in the morning. Then talk.

I also challenge any parents who reads this to talk to as many college coaches as they can and see what they say. Do your research very close. Also ask them who the "Royals' are? :lol2:

Where did I claim we trained Sydney? Sydney and her grandpa came to us wanting to play with the best players in the state. The team that she was on was not even playing her( not calling out any names) so why would she not play for a team that was on the national stage? When Syd wanted to leave Florida and they would not give her release I went to bat for her while others sit idly by and we got it done. We never take credit for anyone's ability. The kids and parents deserve all the credit. They are the ones making the sacrifices. We just showcase it. We have great coaches in our program who understands that we are here to teach the game at a high level and what its going to take to win against some of the best that there is. College coaches are always telling our program how well we are coached. Several of our coaches have been offered jobs in the profession. We have coaches that have been or is a current college coach. We have one coach that wears his national championship ring at UK and is a great coach. We are talking with another UK great who has approached us to help with the program because he loves what we are doing.

 

I get defensive when you take shots at us and you dont even know us. Our Elite team that Syd played on played in front of a average 200 college coaches per game this weekend and got maximum exposure on the biggest stage in basketball for this level. What are we doing wrong for the kids in the state is what I guess I am asking? We have signed over 90 rides for kids in 5 years from startup. We have a Nike contract. One that they asked us for not us asking them for. We are one of the best teams in America and one of the best programs. I would think the people in the state would be glad that there is a venue for the kids to play like this.

I think the service you provide these kids and parents is second to none. I've seen too many other programs that don't come close to what you are providing because your program is in it for the right reasons...the kids!

Trainhard obviously has no idea what he is talking about. The "AAU" is nearly dead when it comes to exposure. The Nike EYBL, Adidas' league, etc. are where it's at when it comes to getting college exposure. My kids played AAU and I was amazed how parents just assumed that college coaches were there watching because it was an "AAU" tournament. You want exposure to go D1 you better get with a program that plays in CERTIFIED scouting/exposure events like Kentucky Premier, Kentucky Travelers, Kentucky Hoop Dreams, Tennessee Flight, WACG, etc.

This is what several promoters of what their AAU team did at Nationals do not realize. Several of the best teams don't even play AAU anymore. They are at these events. There is a whole other level above AAU these days.

Couldn't be more true. You pay out the rear for your kid to play with an "AAU" team with very little recruiting exposure. While the kids that are getting a ton of exposure play for free with big programs in the Nike or Adidas leagues because they get big sponsorship. That's why the AAU is nearly dead and is only a money making organization. They still get suckers who think the AAU is what it was 20 years ago. Cold hard truth - if your kid is good enough to play for EYBL program you better do it, if not you are better off paying for individual instruction with an expert than putting them on an "AAU" team.

 

My kids weren't good enough to play for a big time program like the ones I mentioned earlier. I still let them play with their "AAU" team because they liked the kids they played with and just enjoyed playing. I understood and made sure they understood what it was. They weren't going to magically get college exposure because they were on an AAU roster. If something changes and they get a lot better then maybe they get that chance but as of now they are small school NAIA type players at best.

 

I just wish others could take the AAU blinders off and see the big picture. The biggest injustice you can do for your kid is to give them unrealistic expectations. Don't beat your chest about being AAU State Champions or AAU National Champions and claim that you are the BEST or other programs are scared because they don't play there. Is LeBron James or Kevin Durant not the best because they play in the NBA instead of one of the European leagues? It's the same scenario. Everyone would laugh in the face of the best European league player if they claimed they were the best in the world because they were European league MVP. Wake up people!
