I like this one except I may swap Byrd and Bruce until Bruce snaps out of his funk.

I agree wholeheartedly that Bruce should hit down in the lineup till he shows us something.

I feel like last year was an anomaly because of his injury. He's going to have a really big season this year IMO

I hope so.I do find it interesting that people cut Bruce so much slack but hammer on Votto and Phillips who were also injured

People cut Bruce slack because he's been the most consistent hitter from year to year. You know exactly what you're getting with him.

Phillips was pretty consistent up until last year. I think persona has more to do with it than anything else

Yes he was, however Bruce was just as consistent with better production. I just don't get your obsession with Phillips.

I really don't have an obsession with Philips. I believe other people have an obsession against Phillips that I consider off target. I do believe Phillips is one of the best clutch hitters on the team and I think it is a mistake for him to be hitting seventh. the stats I have seen support my view that he is one of the best clutch orders on the team. I hate to go here but the notorious eye test tells me that Phillips is a different hitter in clutch situations.

I'm guessing we consider clutch different things.

Over the last 5 years Votto is hitting .313 in late & close situations. Phillips is hitting .263 in those same situations.

Over the last 5 years Phillips is hitting .249 with 2 outs. In those same situations Votto is hitting .319.

Over the last 5 years with RISP Votto is hitting .322. In those same situations Phillips is hitting .299.

for me this is not a debate between Votto and Phillips. let me make it very clear I am NOT saying Phillips is a better hitter than Votto. I am putting Votto number 2 in the order and then picking who the best clutch hitter is from the rest

Then why did you post numbers between Votto and Phillips the last 2 years, then edit your post?

:lol2: :lol2: Busted.

I think batting Bruce higher than 7th on this team is a mistake.

I also start the season with Phillips 5 or higher. He is the best clutch hitter on the team and if you start the season with him in the 7 hole he is done for the year.

That's not true at all. It's Votto by a mile.

:lol2: I'm really glad you aren't making the decisions.

Votto is far and away the most clutch hitter on the team.

Read through the above chain of posts and get back to me. I wasn't the one who started the Votto vs Phillips clutch hitting comparison. I just responded.

And you were proven wrong.

Ok. I owe @Voice of Reason an apology. I read his earlier post where he gave stats for Phillips and Votto the last 2 years, but didn't see where he qualified it with preferring Votto to bat 2nd. That post was on the 1st page and when I didn't see the post I thought he edited a different post because I didn't realize the mobile site was on the 2nd page.
