The Cards will return a lot off of their 1A state title team including most all the skill positions on offense but will have only 1 returning lineman and the development of the Cardinal line should ultimately determine this teams fate. Pretty much the same situation on defense where most return but the line. This team could be as bad as a district runner up to Murray or as good as a 2A state champ. Returning starters are:

I expect Bright to be one of the states best backs next year, a real difference maker. The coaches claim this is the hardest working group they can recall in the weight room which should give Cards fan a lot of optimism. One of the senior linemen from last year told me yesterday that he thinks this will be a better line than last year so we will see. Should the Cards win their district they will enjoy home field advantage until they win out of get beat. In week #3 the Cards will play Corbin at Lindsey Wilson.

Agreed. And Lindsey Wilson has a really nice facility.

I really wanted that Union City, TN. game. UC is 30 minutes away, they are back to back TN state champs and on a 20 something game winning streak. But I look forward to Corbin as it takes me back to my childhood when we played them 3 years in a row. Twice for state titles and once in the Rec Bowl

It is a 3.5 hour drive, still a long way to LW.

 

We have been trying to get them or Martin, TN (Westview) on the schedule for sometime but neither have shown much interest. We have had a great run against W TN football teams and have a great reputation in W TN. That said, it is my and many others opinion, that they are leery. With the current run UC has been flirting with the idea. Historically they likely would not have done real well. Last year Calpreps had them ranked higher but that is the only year I am aware of that they have been ranked ahead of us. The official reason was they could not work out the dates and maybe true. We have been trying to get them on the schedule for some years
