Van Halen Tour 2015

Featured Replies

Maybe a stupid question, but who's fronting them these days?

Dave can't sing a lick but if you've never seen them, go. Good chance this is it. Eddie, when sober and he is now, is so damn good. For me it's hendrix, beck and eddie. So different but all 3 are great and innovative.

Wouldn’t but tickets ahead of time be better to wait the way these guys fight and break up.

Dave has been back a few years now and they've got an album and tour under their belt, so maybe they've figured it out. Although still no Michael Anthony. I didn't see them last tour, so I don't know for sure, but Michael was such a big part of their sound, singing those high harmonies, without him it just seems like something would be missing. Plus Michael is the only one who seems like a genuine good guy, and not full of himself. Not sure seeing Wolfgang playing bass is how I want to remember them. Not sure if I want to go or not. But their first 4 albums are real classics in my book, and I spent a large part of my childhood and teenage years listening to them.

I know for sure I have zero interest of seeing them tour with anyone other than Dave. Probably wouldn't see them play with Sammy Hagar if the show was in my backyard.

I saw them play the last tour and it was one of the best VH concerts I had seen in a while. They sounded great, but it is a different concert without Michael Anthony. Wolfgang is a great bass player, but he is a kid and I could not see him drinking Jack Daniels and playing during the concert. With Dave, it is all about him and the show, never was a great lead singer. With Sammy, he is a musician that makes the concert more about the music and the fans. Sammy is touring with Michael Anthony this summer and I plan on seeing them also.

I like Sammy, and some of VH's stuff with Sammy is pretty good. But for the most part, VH with Sammy just doesn't work for me. I've seen Sammy live, and would pay to see him live again.

I loved those first 4 too RJS. Those first four albums belong in the Smithsonian, IMO they are pure Rock and Roll at it's best. Not very commercial but strong from beginning to end.

Diver Down and 1984 were more commercially successful and radio friendly plus they came along during the early days of MTV and were the first introduction for many to VH.

5150, OU812 and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge all had some solid songs on them...I hate that none of that music is heard in concert anymore at least not at a VH concert.

BTW the Gary Cherone album is tough to get through for me..:lol2:

New Live Album Releases 3.31.15

The first 4 albums and a lot of 1984 are just pure rock, so straight ahead kick butt rock. Not mamby pamby rock like a lot of what's out today where the guitar is almost an afterthought.

If all you heard of their latest album was the song tattoo, take a good listen. Dave's singing is so so but the music is right in your face rock, especially the last 6 songs. And Dave is about the story and the journey, will never be anyone's favorite singer.
