NO clue if the earlier report of his salary is current. NKU knows they have to probably be in the $200k range.

Brannen, even if it's a pay cut, would not turn his first head coaching job down when he's been the bridesmaid in other attempts to get the first chair.

I hope they pick a coach not from this area. I believe a new perspective is needed and if a local guy is hired nothing will change. To place an emphasis on Ky recruiting is ridiculous because the talent is simply not there to compete nationally. It's going to be a revolving door with HC's and assistant's for the foreseeable future, so get use to starting a thread like this every couple of years. My pick would be Hurley from Buffalo.

 

You're joking right? Hurley is in a MUCH better situation than NKU already, makes a lot more than NKU could offer, and is going to have offers from major conference D-1 programs after the season ends. Why in the world would he even consider NKU?

Brannen made 160k as an assistant, will NKU offer anything close to that number.

There's a reason why you don't see many KY kids on UK's or Louisville's roster. What KY kids have had any impact on any D1 basketball team anywhere in the country?? It hasn't been more than a handful, and certainly not enough to build any kind of winning team.

Not to pile on, but his freshman year was 2004. If you only get a player in Kentucky that can make an impact once every decade, then you really shouldn't build a program around that.

Oh yeah, I'm serious. He runs the same system you see at Grinnell- he would bring a lot of excitement offensively. Plus, I don't imagine you will have a ton of significantly bigger names beating down the door to coach NKU. I know it is a crazy thought, but why not throw it out there?
