Elliott County 49 Morgan County 43 (16th Region Championship)

How Elliott does it.

To be such a small poor school and be competitive.

No football program

Community support

Great elementary and youth basketball program

I agree with all of this. Those kids play a lot of ball in the summer too. I feel like confidence plays a big role with their team in close game situation. Elliott county looks to be a force for several years to come.

I really don't understand this. And what does being a "poor" school matter? No football, what`s that have to do with basketball? Community support is great, and the elementary and youth program ,must be good. I`m guessing that the kids put in a ton of work, on there game. And adults and parents teaching them its a team game, You can still shine and play team ball. It is something when a small school makes a run, must be doing something right in the hook. What gets it done is players working hard from a early age, team play and they have a really good high school coach. Knows his players , and find`s the match ups that work best for each game. Just a outside OP.

Your right that was all lies. I know nothing. You got me.

I guess I should have said 2 out 3 ain't bad....but great elementary and youth basketball. Come on, those elementary games are a joke.

If the elementary games are a joke, how is the program being built. Most of your better players start and learn to play at a young age. Just wondering ?

They barely have a elementary or youth league program lol. Even though the county seems poor on the outside the county has wealth in other forms. We have many great people who have dirt on there shoes and grit on their hands, who don't need the neccesities that others believe will make them wealthy. We believe and instill values and morals into our children that most places across the country have long forgotten. Our kids are special because they understand hard work and see sacrifices that we make to give them a better chance at success. The parents are the ones who make it happen for the kids. They drive, sleep in motels, spend countless hours wondering how they are gonna keep doing it because if there one thing in Elliott County that sleeps, eats, and breathes something it's "Basketball"!! If it wasn't for the parents it wouldn't happen and they want to give their kids the best they can. The other kids don't get to fully experience what a team truly is until they begin in middle school. Because most of them don't have that special group of parents that has the means to travel (it is hard for most to get their kids to and from any basketball league). Everyone of the starting 5 for Elliott has been on or played in the AAU circuit together. They have been playing together for a long time. That's why we have good teams that come through every now and again. The parents take the role on and get a group of kids 5-6 and form a team at a young age and travel. Forming a lifetime of toughness and team togetherness, waiting for their chance when it comes their time. Elliott is loaded with talent for decades to come!!!
