Yes, a Rebel/Rebel matchup will be more competitive next year! I saw Casey's first game of the season at home against Marion Co. Casey won the high scoring run and gun battle in OT. I perceived it to be a gang rebound war that Marion won 42/28. Marion went on to become the 5th leading rebounding team in the state, 36.8/gm, but had a lack-luster performance in wins and losses. That phenomona perplexes me! They did not make the region, getting stopped by Adair after beating them 3 times. Casey needs to review their stats. They show about a 12.5 rebound a game average on the team page, but 30.7 when the individual stats are tallied. White was not eligible that night and I only have seen him once. He left me with the impression that he will not accept being blocked-out. He seems to be a (not-to-big) big man who haas no illusions of granduer of being a Michael Jordan on the wing. I hope next year he maintains his myopic perspective of staying on the boards. I wonder if Maze Stallworth's Morehead teammate, Kenneth Faired, has had any input into Casey and White on the subject of rebounding? Purple, can you post a 12 Region rebounding leader list?

Once again "Defensive Presence" is overlooked. Colton Elkins is certainly all region in the 12th. Its amazing ,Anthony Davis (and by no means is this kid like the #1 draft pick other than the roll he plays) hits 1 shot in the championship game and he is the MOP, is 4th on his team in shot attempts and he is the consensus player of the year ,and yet in the 12th region coaches still cant recognize the importance of a rim protector......wow

I may be over-hyping Elkins Lincoln game at home, but I believe it was the most dominating defensive game I have ever seen. He scored only 3 points, but he dictated the outcome of the game. Lincoln was cold from out and had to get something started inside. Elkins thwarted everything they brought to him by blocking shots and retreiving, clogging, changing their shots and commanding the boards. An old man sitting next to me said he thought the boy had already signed with Perdue. Being a Perdue fan, I thought that was great, but I figgured bigger dogs would be calling. So I came back to region 5 crowing about the big 10 signee I had seen, who dominated a game while scoring only 3 points! After I watched the Boyle at Southwestern game, I suspected the old man may have been wrong. Gaskins seemed to get the best of him that night! But I am sure he will continue to improve and a top player in region 12 next year.

Problem with Elkins is, who do you take off? I'd say someone from Wayne - all three are deserving but they're the only team with three players on the list. I'd rather have the champs get three players.

 

Again, all of the players are deserving. Tough to take someone off for Elkins but I'm sure he'll get his next year.

That was really slick prediction I made, huh? White and Elkins battling for the rebound crown! Yeah they were 7th and 9th in rebounding this year but will be only the 6th and 7th returning rebounders! MY apologies to Malik Dow, Slade Crutchfield, Nick Gillispie, Spencer McKinney and Lucas Gentry, all 12 region underclassmen who topped my boys in boards per game. I have only seen Gentry play, who I guessed to be about 6-4 and big built, over 200#, if my memory serves me correctly. Can anybody guestimate the height and weight of the other 4 big rebounders?

If you are measuring impact, you simply can't convince me that there are 14 players that had greater impact on games in which they played.

It's too bad that Crutchfield has been on bad teams all 3 years of his high school career. I really like his game. Long; poised; good defender; smart; and can play in and out. Very versatile.
