What a game. Collins dominated and controlled this game. Great win for a great coach.

Collins just plain dominated Oldham tonight. They lead 42-23 in the 4th before Oldham made a late run, but great free throw shooting sealed the Titans' first regional championship. Collins also set a school record with 26 wins. Congrats to Oldham County on a great season and Titans I'll see you at Rupp!

Oldham trailed by as many as 19, then made a run to cut it to 11. It seemed like Hawes forced a few shots during their next three possessions.

 

Its always nice to have to 80% free throw shooters when you have a late lead.

 

Collins has made a name for themselves since opening.

Brent Kidwell led all scorers with 20 as he joined the 1,000 point club tonight.

 

Collins will play Owensboro in the first game of the state tournament next Wednesday at 12:00 PM.

Oldham for some reason played poorly but Collins has a lot to do with it. Good luck Titans!

NEW CASTLE, Ky. — In only its fifth season the, Collins boys’ basketball team has reached the apex of the Eighth Region.

 

The Titans won their first region title Tuesday night, knocking off Oldham County 53-41 at Henry County.

 

With the victory, Collins (26-8), which opened in 2010, advances to the Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys Sweet Sixteen. The Titans will play Owensboro (27-4), which mauled Meade County 87-57 Tuesday night in the Third Region final, at noon next Wednesday in Lexington’s Rupp Arena.

 

“This means everything in the world,” Collins senior point guard Brent Kidwell said. “After being disappointed the last two years, and now winning this one, it’s even more sweet.”
