Watusi Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I've posted before about the excellent wild game dinners at Jenny Wiley lodge. They have a fantastic Elk Dinner and Buffalo Dinner but this is a new theme. This Saturday they are having an Appalachian Supper. DATE CHANGE: MARCH 28TH
Bert Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 How far is Jenny Wiley from Beria, KY? I am supposed to be just outside of Barea that Sunday through Friday. If not far, I may look into coming a day early.
Watusi Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Prestonsburg to Berea would be somewhere around 2hrs 15 minutes, Bert.

Yep, not the shortest trip, but if you got the time might be a nice little "half day" trip. Then again you are right there by the Boone Tavern. Got to hit that place up too.
Watusi Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Have fun 2C. Wish I could go.Right now I am about 50/50 but I hope to make it. I love frog legs and I am excited about the quail. The catfish at JW is excellent and that sauerkraut and hamhocks sounds pretty dang good.
Watusi Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 Just a few more hours and then I'm going to tie on the feed bag
Watusi Posted March 8, 2015 Author Posted March 8, 2015 Drove to Prestonsburg and the lake was up and blocking the road to Jenny Wiley Lodge. They had moved the dinner to March 28th. :ohbrother:

Watusi Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 That stinks. It was unavoidable. Because of the flooding downstream on the Big Sandy, in the Ashland area, etc, the Corps had to shut the spillway gates on Dewey Lake. The result is the lake backed up and flooded the old golf course and blocked the access to the lodge at JW. I wasn't too disappointed knowing it was for the greater good, but I was really looking forward to those frog legs.
