Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Announcement confirmed on Twitter: Don Wilkins @DonWilkinsMI http://www.messenger-inquirer.com Jay Fallin, 28, named head football coach at Owensboro High School. Fallin has been an OHS assistant coach since 2010
Cynical Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 So Owensboro, a job that could be argued as one of the top 15 in KY, coming off a State Runner-Up, and with what I understand to be a wealth of talent on the way, hires a 28 year old with zero Head Coaching experience, who from the looks of it has never been anywhere but Owensboro... Wow.
Bowtieguy Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 As a parent of OHS player, I was extremely pleased with the selection of Jay Fallon as head coach. As offense line coach, he built a line that took them to the state championship game. He is well respected by the kids and by school administration. He cares about the kids and they know that. He is in a enviable position to be a first-year head coach with a program that is not broken and he has the skills and abilities to build on the great tradition that is Owensboro football. He is also blessed with a great group of assistant coaches to help him succeed. In the end, however, it does not matter what I believe but what the kids believe and according to my son, they believe in Coach Fallon.
NKYknowitall Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Congrats to Jay! Played college ball with this guy. He is an excellent choice and will continue with the tradition of OHS. I hope this year he beats all 3 (Catholic, Apollo and DC) and wins the district and runs back to the state title game so all the naysayers can look silly. Good luck this year Jay!

Coach Prince hasn't lost to Daviess Co. or Apollo in the last 10 years and only twice to Owensboro Catholic during that same period. If a team coming off of a state championship appearance loses to Apollo or Daviess Co. than naysayers might be the least of the new coaches problems.
sportsfan08 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 This sounds like a 'we didn't want to create a position for someone else' hire.

devils58 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Congrats to Jay Fallon! I had to miss the introduction yesterday but I feel like the people who are associated with the OHS football program are very excited about this hire. While I do have some reservations because of his lack of experience, I do think he deserves a fair shake which is exactly what he'll get. OHS has a very tough schedule next year, but he'll have a ton of talent returning. Many of those kids have been working out since right after the state championship game. He has my full support, and welcome to the biggest seat in the Boro.
Irish Cat Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Catholic beat them in 2004 to round out 10 years. I was aware, but 2004 is outside of the 10 year window I was using.
