10th Region Freshman Boys Tourney

Featured Replies

Do any of these kids dress Varsity or contribute on JV? Thanks for stats Goldie

My last post on BGP.

Congrats to the Freshmen.

According to the roster, Ryan Cooper and JJ Johnson are the only freshmen that play on the JV/Varsity.

George Rogers Clark 2014/15 Kentucky High School Boys Basketball

They mostly play JV according to the stats. Cooper has played in 2 varsity games and Johnson has played in 1 varsity game.

Cooper is the far right player in the picture. Johnson is the one in front in a crouch position.

Many other freshmen have played JV throughout the season including Williams, Taylor, Hamlin, Goodman, and Clark.

The freshmen ended 20-6. The JV is currently 13-3. The Varsity is 18-7. Many of these freshmen will contribute greatly to the 2015-2016 team and beyond.

10th Region Championship Pendleton County vs. GRC

The Cardinals came out hot in the championship game. GRC led 10-2 after the 1st quarter. At one point in the 2nd quarter, the Cardinals held a commanding 26-9 lead. The halftime score was 30-15. Pendleton County staged a comeback in the 2nd half. They outscored the Cardinals 17-12 in the 3rd quarter and had cut the lead to 10 at one point. However, GRC continued its pressure and won the 4th quarter 17-10 as it claimed the championship by a score of 59 to 42.

Scorers for GRC were as follows:

Houston Goodman had 16 points.

Ryan Cooper had 10 points.

PJ Williams had 9 points.

JJ Johnson had 6 points.

Tydarius Clark, Tristan Hamlin, and Shawn Short had 4 points each.

Jaden Farris had 3 points.

Will Philpot had 2 points.

Chase Taylor had 1 point.

The Cardinals finish the season at 20-6 with a 10 game winning streak and 3 tournament championships!

Thank you so much. Yes it is, and we have a supper great coach in Bo Harris. He is a GRC grad and played ball I believe the first year that Coach H was here. He played at Pikeville and over seas for awhile.

Shame that there was no regional runner-up trophy given out. Found that to be strange.

Did they give one last year?

Did they give one last year?

not sure. You'd have to ask last years runner up. Still think they deserve something.

Who hosted it last year? They should be able to tell us.

Mustang and I were doing the webcast last night at Brossart and saw a coaches son with a Frosh Championship shirt on from a few years ago. Pretty exciting tourney for those involved. Frosh are usually treated as second class citizens, but the regional championship or great tourneys like the Holy Cross tourney make it fun for them.

I agree!! Kudos to the ones who make the Frosh boys feel like they are something!! They are the future coming up. Same way with some JV kids feeling that way, I'm sure.

Congrats to all the teams that participated!

I think it was the 39th's year to host...so, Mason?
