I'll always take a big over a wing. Davis' history of injury in the league scares me a bit, but stud big guys are much harder to come by, IMO.

Look at how many Superstars developed an outside shot through their career. No reason to think that AD can't/won't develop a deeper shot as his career goes along.

His jumper is solid as is. Only thing needed is to be used more in situations that allow him to shoot it IMO...

^Disagree. He's only going to continue to improve. His age is his biggest asset.

 

Again, not saying he won't improve. I'm just saying that he's not going to keep improving at the pace he's improved at over the first three years. Usually there's a huge jump from year 1 to year 2, and just as much of a jump from 2-3. They stop making those monumental gains after that.

 

Look back at this link for even the all time greats, and you can look up any player in the league currently. After the third, but no later than the fourth season, they all level off significantly. If he increases his scoring output this season by 116% next season, then he only matches Durant's scoring output from his lowest season total since Year 3.

 

To match Durant's highest total during that same period, he'd have to do so over 133%. Look through history and see how many guys who are over three years in and already averaging over 20 (his current is 24 points) have went on and increased their scoring by over 125% and kept on that pace sustainably. You'll be hard pressed to do so.

 

 

I was responding to this question as: "who would you rather have today". Durant, who is in his prime, scoring more than Davis currently is, and coming off an MVP season, or Davis, the guy who still has a some more, but possibly not as much as we're thinking as prisoners of the moment, growth?
