10)Owensboro Catholic:

The Aces are 9-12 but don’t let that fool you, they did just take highly rated Owensboro (20-2) to the wire in a 59-56 loss and are very capable of getting to the regional tournament even though they are 0-5 against district opponents.

Upcoming Schedule: 2/3 @ Madisonville North-Hopkins, 2/6 @ Daviess County, 2/7 @ Graves County

Apollo has the most potential..in my opinion ......Owensboro appears much like 20-2 Webster County..really no real tough opponents that they have beaten ...... as for Apollo..once Trace Young and Eli Wright gel they should be very tough come tourney time...

OHS is nothing like Webster in my opinion. They are the real deal. Yes they have lost games vs tough competition in Doss & Wayne Co(both games they led big and lost big late) but they beat some really good Illinois teams and have blown solid teams like Christian County(32 point win), Muhlenberg(45 points) & Bosse(11, but led by 20 plus points throughout). Everyone is sleeping on the Devils state wide. Im telling you, this is a team that can really make some noise. They are about to get a chance to prove if they are as good as i believe they are, with games vs Apollo, Bowling Green(already beat them once), Trinity, Hoptown and Henderson. Those are the final 5 games on OHS's schedule.

As for the rest of the rankings, no way I would have Grayson County ranked in the top 3. Their record is decent but starting to trend downward. Its easier for me to say that as of now, because they just dropped another game to Mclean tonight. Thats 4 losses in a row, one being a 30 some point blowout to Breck County.

Speaking of Breck County, they are sneaky good. The Miller and Mingus kids are a nice 1-2 punch. They just won games over Meade and Grayson last week and will get a shot at OHS tonight. I would keep my eye on them as far as teams outside the 9th go. Muhlenberg is the team outside the 9th that I think holds the most potential. Hopper and Stovall is a NASTY 1-2 combo as far as coaches go. I like their makeup come tournament time.

As for Apollo, all of the tools are there for this to be a very good team but something just isnt clicking with them. They have not came close to playing their best game yet. Im not sure if they will ever put it together this season. They have some tough games left vs OHS and Henderson but the only game left that really matters is vs Daviess County in the first round of district. Im just not sure ive seen enough from the Eagles to believe they beat DC. Unless things change in the next few weeks, i think Eli Wright and company will miss regional for the 3rd straight year.

1-OHS, 2-DC, 3-Apollo, 4-Breck, 5-Muhlenberg, 6-Hancock, 7-Catholic(now healthy, is a potential top 3 squad with Cam Obryan), 8-Grayson, 9-Meade 10-Edmonson, 11-Mclean, 12-Trinity, 13-Ohio, 14.Butler, 15-Cloverport

Very good chance Owensboro is 1-4 in those final five..This seems for Apollo like 1997..beat OHS in regional final..IMO thats a very good possibility. Should be an interesting tourney...

I see OHS 3-2 in those final 5 games. Losses at Trinity and Henderson(which 95% of the teams in the state lose those games). We'll see how it plays out. As an Apollo guy, i really hope you are correct. That first game with DC is going to be intense.

I disagree with both of you. OHS may lose to Trinity, but they will beat Henderson 4-1 last 5 games. To much size inside for Henderson to handle. Miller to big and to strong. Holman is a nightmare for Henderson.

As for the 10 Ten, I agree with the top 2, but Apollo is 3 Catholic, now that O'Bryan is back is 4. Then the rest of the region. Here's the shame of it all. 4 of the best teams in the region are in the 9th district and 2 of them will watch the regional from the same place I will, in the stands. In all likelihood it will be a 9th district final in the regional final as well.

Something tells me four times isn't an OHS fan, lol. The only team that will keep OHS from going to state is OHS. Apollo has the tools to be better and we'll find out tomorrow if the eagles are ready to take that next step. Apollo is really the only team that I feel like is a legitimate threat to OHS. Eli and trace are a great 1-2 punch. If apolo can make it outta the first round of district I can see an OHS Apollo regional final.

Also I think people are sleeping on DC. The panthers are sneaky good. Marshall Griffith and Stewart currie are legit and the role players for DC are starting to come on. I think DC is a better team than Apollo but Apollo has better players.

Should be a fun ride. And...I'm not so much worried about OHS' record over he last 5 games. The competition will have OHS primed going into district which is what matters. Remember if Jacoby Harris doesn't get hurt at the KOB, OHS could be undefeated.
