As we get closer and closer to tournament time, I just wanted to see what is everyone's predictions is on the 16th region. The region is kinda down this year, but their are teams who could get hot. Thoughts and predictions?

Anybody besides Boyd or Rowan would have to get a good draw and some luck to win the region.

Boyd County and Rowan County would have to rank one two and I way its a tossup between Elliott and Morgan Counties for the next spot. Boyd County has the longest dry spell having not been to the state since they won regional titles in 98,99 and 2000

I would have thought so too. But since Lewis beat Boyd county and then a week later Morgan county turned around and dismantled Lewis county by 17 points then I'd say any of those top 4 teams could win it. The winner of the Elliott, Morgan, East Carter district has a good shot to play in the regional finals against Boyd or Rowan. Depending on how the draw goes. But all of the top teams are definitely beatable. I agree Rowan and Boyd should be the favorites, but don't sleep on Elliott or Morgan. Elliott county plays really good unselfish basketball and have enough size down low to win the rebounding batle. And when you have two scoring threats like Jordan Perry and Redparth then Morgan county could give teams fits. Anxious to watch the regionals this year.

I think Elliott has beaten Morgan 3 times this year, 2 times on a neutral floor and once they dismantled them at Elliott. Holding Perry and Redparth to one of there lowest scoring games of the year. The first game they was up by as many as 15. The last time Morgan and Elliott traded punches until Elliott had 6 point lead with less than 3 minutes to play. But poor play and some bad decision, allowed Morgan to tie the game. So my thoughts are Boyd, Rowan, Elliott, right now East until Morgan plays them at home. Also I think Morgan could very well win the 62nd, probably the toughest district in the 16th region. IMO

It should be a great game. Any one of the 4 teams could actually win it. So balanced in that district this year.

Morgan has a good record , but they have only a few wins Vs teams above 500. MY op not that good,

Morgan will beat East Carter and give Elliott county all they can handle in the district. Morgan is 11-5 in the region. They have played the top teams except Boyd in their region. Who are they supposed to play? Knott Central, PRP, Newport Central Cath, Lexington Catholic? Who else plays those types of teams from the 16th region? They are going to Lawrence county next week, a team that just beat arguably the best team in the 16th region (Boyd Co) by 11(were up by 30 with 4 min to go). They played Sayre and beat them by 22, an 11th region team that has a winning record and plays with the big boys from Lexington. They are playing Paintsville, one of the better teams out of the 15th region. Hate all you want on them, but they have the region's best player and 4th leading scorer in the state, and when you have a kid that is that good then they can be very difficult for teams in the region to beat. Rowan, Boyd, and Elliott included.
