NKY Legends 13U (current 7th grade) doesn't have tryouts, but I believe that they are always looking to add talent to their roster. I think they have a pretty good group of players and seem to be one of the better AAU teams in this area.

They legends have probably the best 13u AAU team around if not in state. They have everything you need in a great team, dribblers, defenders, big men, if you notice everything was plural. come check them out!!

In the state? That's a rich statement. I've heard they have a nice roster, but without knowing what else is in the state, I wouldn't make that claim just yet. There is a TON of talent out there.

With the new AAU age rules, it is tough to know how they will stack up against the rest of the State. The roster is filled with NKY kids that can play, and time will tell if they are one of the better teams in the State.

Landmark Winter Shootout - They won the 8th grade tournament division. Not a good field.

 

KBA Gatorade Invitational - They won the 7th grade division a couple weeks ago, beating Scott Co Elite, Ky Grind, EKY Hotshots, by an average of almost 28ppg.

 

 

They are playing the next couple weekends in Columbus and Louisville.

Heard the Legends U13 team won another tournament this weekend in Columbus. It was the Delaware Warrior Classic and had about 10 - 12 teams in it, sponsored by Ohio Youth Basketball. It looks like they went 5 - 0. I think that makes the 3rd straight tournament that they have won. Not sure of the competition level, but they seem to be winning a lot of games.

In all fairness this thread cracks me up. You seem to follow them pretty close as this information is not just "out there". I came on here looking for tryout information for a 5th grade boys team in the Georgetown area. Most AAU teams are just now having tryouts and most tournaments are school teams. I did take the liberty to look at last years Ky State D1, D2 and D3 results. Legends were not listed in D1, The were very average in D2. For whatever reason they were signed for and didn't play in D3. I think I recall seeing them in an event last summer in Cincy. I know i've seen them but not sure when. In our last tournament event last fall we faced a Ky team in the finals and we went to OT. We did win but it was a close game. They were not big but had some good players. Most notably they had a really good point guard.

It depends on what age group you were looking at. Last year's 6th, 7th, & 8th grade teams,seemed to me were all different squads. This year's 13u I think is legit 13u.

 

Also I think that the landscape for AAU this year will change considerably with the age restrictions.

So is your question whether the Legends have any older kids that won't be eligible for 13U, i.e. 7th graders who turned 14 before August 1? Anyone know?

I'm not really asking. I'm just saying that I think all the 7th grade team have been hit in similar ways. Tom did tell me that the Eastern Ky teams have been hammered pretty bad by it. But the teams from the cities not as bad. He said the Eastern Ky teams hold all their kids back for sports. I know Clay Co last year had some giant kids that were clearly more mature than others. So, I'm assuming that the Legends are similar to the majority and have 2~3 14U players also. Any kid that was born in the summer of 2001 likely was delayed from starting shool at 5yr old. Those are considered 14U players based on the new age structure.

Not real sure what you are talking about……..I have made 2 posts about the Legends. One (the original post) was about them not having team tryouts because I was looking for a team for my son. The other post was about them winning a tournament in Delaware. The only reason that I put that out there was because one of the other posts in this thread mentioned them playing in Columbus, so out of curiosity, I went looking for info. I talked to a parent, who knew a parent, who knew a parent, and found out they won. In regards to last year, I have no idea where they played, who they played, how they finished, or anything else. I don’t even know if this is the same team from last year.

 

What I do know is that if your son is looking for a team, you had better hurry. I am assuming a 5th grader plays U11, and the D1 and D2 State tournaments for that age group is the next 2 weekends. So, if teams are just now having tryouts, I am guessing that they won’t be too prepared to play at this level in the next 2 weeks.

92% of the Legends 7th grade team qualifies as 13U, and they will be playing 13U at the State AAU tournament. One of their players who doesn't qualify as a 13U has a broken hand, and hasn't played the last 3 tournaments with them.

 

And to answer the other post - 1) A couple of the tournaments were "sucky" events; and 2) They don't have their share of 14U players.

 

But, a couple of the tournaments had good fields, and Legends lost to good 8th grade teams (that perhaps could have had 15U players because these tournaments were grade based, not age based) in very competitive games. But, Legends have beaten every other 13U teams that they have played by double digits, including Wildcats Elite, Ky Elite, Ky Grind, and Louisville Focus.
