If you think for one minute that Lee Couny isn't for real, you might find out for yourself how wrong you are in May.

Sounds like someone hit a nerve.

I just got the feeling he was dissing the 56th district. Anytime you're in a district with Powell and Estill (both of which play about 2/3 of their schedule against Bluegrass teams), Lee, and my beloved Owls....well, that's a pretty demanding district. It's the toughest district in the region IMHO.

Its not been too demanding so far, but they do have a 9-5 win over Estill County....the same Estill that defeated Clark County 5-3 recently....the same Clark County you guys just beat. And they have a bunch of top-notch quality opponents, including Clark County, remaining on their schedule. And by the way, you're making fun of Owsley County but they are presently 5-1 with wins over Hazard, Breathitt, Jenkins, Buckhorn and Menifee, with their only loss to Lee County.

Im not saying they are not for real but if you look at who they have played and who Leslie has played who has faced tougher teams? You can complain and argue all you want to but as of Right Now you can't put Lee with Leslie. I don't care what you say.

Probably so. But give them time. They HAD to play the teams they played in the region All A because that's who they drew. But Coach Combs has some worthy opponents on his schedule, including you guys, as I have already posted.

Im not knocking them for that I said in a recent post that maybe later on in the season when they play some tougher competition then they may be ranked as high. They are a good team, beat us last year but you can't go by that.

Lee has played in the all a tournament which they absolutely dominated (beat Cordia 9-1 by the way), rained out against Perry Central, and soundly defeated Estill, who, like Leslie , has a win over Clark County. Lee will play Clark, Leslie twice PCC, Madison Southern, Clay County, Garrad County and other top teams. I would say beating Estill is as impressive as beating Clark, particularly with Estill's win over Clark.

Estill will compete very well in the 14th this year. They are one of those teams that if you don't show up with your A game it will be a long day. As for Lee's schedule you need to look at the the KHSAA website. They play as good of schedule as there is in the mountains. Period. No doubt Leslie is a good baseball team and one of the top 2 teams in the region but to say that they are that far ahead of any of the top 6 in the region is foolish. In high school baseball sometimes the best team wins, sometimes the best coached wins, sometimes the luckiest wins. I would hate to be Leslie and draw the 56th loser come tourney time.

Good post. The 56th district is a very good district. I think some of the folks south of our area don't understand how challenging baseball is in our area. It's a grind to win against teams up here.

Lee County is the team everyone is gunning for. Owsley County is 5-1 and felt they had a chance against the Bobcats in the All A, but they won by 14-0. They are that good. I think they're the best team in the region.

Some Leslie fans make a habit of that.

Who are Leslie's starters this year and their grades?

Anytime you can get a win over a Clark Co. team you have done good. You can gauge how far your team has progressed.

Estill County beat Clark County 5-3, Lee County beat Estill 9-5.

Lee plays Clark later in the year. I agree that it takes good compitition from teams like Clark, Madison Central, the Fayette schools, etc, to let a team know just how good (or bad) they are. Leslie has played a good schedule so far, and that will only help them when it really counts at tournament time.

Lee County is 4-0, with upcoming games through next weekend with Knott Central (today), Owsley County, Clay County, and Letcher Central. They were scheduled to play Knox Central yesterday, but I'm assuming that game was rained out.
