Was at Campbell County for a while I believe. The previous coach was let go in the fall I believe as well.

Pretty solid hire considering how things lingered. I know they had a couple of very good candidates in house that would have been happy to take the reins if things had moved more swiftly.

 

Anyway, should be a very good thing for Newport. A change of those in charge is sometimes a great thing. Dennis is a very good guy, and really knows the game. It's just hard to right the ship once you have lost it. I really hope he lands on his feet somewhere.

Yep, I've known Coach Ollier for decades and he is a great guy that knows the game. Newport's enrollment numbers are way down from when he and his brother played there... So he had a lot fewer athletes in the cupboard than in years past.

Problem was, for whatever reason, Dennis couldn't convince a lot of Newport's best athletes to play baseball. And many that did play would not fully commit to it.

Maybe Coach Hamilton can create enough excitement to get more of their athletes interested in baseball.

Great hire. Campbell County's loss when the admin didn't rehire beoseker and Hamilton years ago. But then again... Wouldn't expect anything less from that admin... Best of luck Steve!!!
