So you watched that whole game and you feel HHS can't handle the ball or pressure??? Is that what you're saying. Because you seem to keep agreeing with that comment. The original comment was that HHS has no ball handlers and can't handle pressure. Is that what you saw and believe after watching that game?

 

Yes yes and yes Holycross started the game in the slow you down full court press and highlands had there way with it in the opening quarter and most of the second. That being said start of the second half McClendon and the Indians defense starting pressuring the ball and caused a couple walks to be called and turnovers and lay ups for Holycross at the other end. It showed late in the game when Beal came off the bench for HC and puts ball pressure on the girl and is able to rip it away for a steal in a key late game situation! Ball pressure killed the birds!

Holycross had one key turnover late that was the wide pass out of bounds by Turner, Highlands had the ball ripped out of the girls hands in the Corner took shots that they haven't been taking the whole game and connecting and also the turn over at mid court the last time highlands touched the ball!

 

So they had two bad plays after 4 qtrs and 2 overtimes and you label them as "they can't handle pressure"??? Just silly! HC took bad shots as well. Some of you guys kill me. Game could have gone either way and since you were there, you know that. A turnover late didn't help their chances, but to tag them as poor ball handlers for that is hilarious!

Your not catching on to my post at all the first half Holycross didnt pressure the ball at all on defense start the second half they pressured the ball and held the birds to just two points in the 3rd quarter coming off of free throws not beating the defense at all therefore giving HC the lead, fourth quarter was ugly on both ends of the floor including the zebras and overtime as well until HC amped up the pressure again and caused the turnovers and bad shot selection!

Great game tonight! Hard fought game on both sides and confirms what most knew is there are 3 really good teams in the 9th.

 

HHS started out shooting the ball well in the 1st and also played some very good defense...holding HC to just 2 points in the first qtr. HC did miss a few shots in the 1st, but HHS' strategy was stout in the first. HC got a little more comfortable in the second and made a little run. They won the second qtr 12-11, but still found themselves down 9 at half at 23-14.

 

In the third, HC looked like a different team. Confusing the Birds with their defense for the majority of the quarter. They definitely had the Birds out of the rhythm they were in for the first half. HC stormed back and took the lead at the end of the 3rd, outscoring the Birds 14-2 to take a 28-25 lead.

 

The fourth started with a three from Adler just about 5 seconds into the 4th and we were all tied up again. The 4th went back and forth with noone leading by more than 3 (I think). The fourth and the two overtimes became kind of a blur with so much happening, my timeline is all screwed up! Both teams had chances to win the game and turnover and some bad shots on both sides kept anyone from building any kind of lead. The defense was solid on both ends of the court tonight. Very tough to score on either of these teams when they play with that much effort. Both very disciplined on defense. Some key turnovers and missed front ends on both sides kept this one entertaining til the end.

 

I thought one of the keys was McClendan's play in the third qtr. She started finding ways to get to the rim and brought the team back. Turner had a decent game, but still looks hampered by something. She seemed okay when she had the ball in her hands, but appeared to be favoring an ankle or something at other times. Mayhaus' were kept pretty much in check tonight. They both play really hard, but I thought the Birds did a nice job on them down low. Hassert doesn't score much, but I really like her! She works her tale off on both ends...again, one of those "blue collar" kids. I like Tucker too and it's nice for HC to have that 3rd ball handler on the floor. Her lack of strength can get her in trouble at times, but she's still a nice asset to have.

 

HHS played pretty well tonight. Rebounded and shot okay. Some of their shooters seemed hesitant to take shots tonight for some reason. Not sure why. One of them has lit it up all year and shot maybe one attempt from 3 tonight and passed up some open looks. I guess some nights you just aren't feeling it. HHS has to continue to get stronger with the ball in the paint. Some really nice finishes and some really ugly ones. They do move the ball well and are very patient. And typically if you give them an open look, they can knock it down.

 

Congrats to the Lady Indians! Way to go Birds.

Never said HC didn't turn the ball over just stating the obvious because HC put ball pressure on the birds they then came back and wound up winning the game not our fault no adjustments where made by the birds bench!

Again, just silly. They made a nice comeback in the third and we made a few poor decisions in the last minute of the 2nd OT. Again, why didn't they just apply the unbelievable pressure the entire game. Seems like they might have blown us out then? Ask them why they didn't.

Sounds like a great game. Can't really say one team is better than the other when it's a one point double overtime game. One possession here or there could have probably won the game for Highlands.

 

Looks like a 3 horse race for the region. Are HC and Holmes in the same district? If so, the loser could end up facin the other two to get to the finals. Tough road to travel.

Pretty sure I seen a highlands jacket At all of HCs all a games and every coach in northern KY that didn't have a game scheduled was at the Holmes HC game watching and scouting! Because like another post stated they like to stick to there game and play it out unless they see a weakness they can attack during the game and then they adjust!

I said it, strength in the paint. And they got confused and stunned by the defense in the 3rd. Did I point out HC's weakness (other than saying Tucker could be a little stronger with the ball)? After giving her compliments and I'd bet she'd tell you the same thing.

I think the lack of other girls for HHS not stepping up to score besides Alder and their center who had a couple nice post moves.Also they missed a couple nice cuts that I thought could of been layups .

Your whole team was at the Holmes HC game so not only did your coaches go to games and you work on them in practice the girls got to watch them see what they do in person and wanna act like HC over scouted highlands? Hahahaha you are quit comical my friend

I'm not saying noone scouts. I'm saying, they scouted us (just like every other team does).
