Well ND confirmed for me tonight what I felt was true. They are way better than their record shows. They are long and physical and play good defense and have plenty of athleticism.

Birds start really slow tonight and their shooting was horrible in the first half...from all over the court. Some of that credit goes to ND for speeding them up a little, but they also missed some open looks. They also don't shoot their free throws well tonight, which is very unusual for this group. Don't know what the percentage was tonight, but you are talking about one of the best free throw shooting teams in the state. Ugly from the line tonight. But they somehow pull off the win. They did start to find their range in the 3rd. Adler, Combs and Graves all hit some big threes in the second half. Adler shot one from the volleyball line and buried it! Birds gut out a win in a tough place to get out with the W.

ND is a good team. I never believed they weren't going to play HHS tough. They just came off of playing Franklin Co (a very good team) in a tight one over the weekend. They have also played a tough schedule up until this point. I knew this would be a battle and it was. Hailey Smith coming off the concussion, is still not 100%. When she is back to full strength, I have a feeling the district reps from that district are not a given. I still think ND will have something to say about it. First time seeing Jenna Martin in action. Nice player. The Birds stick to Stallman like glue and she didn't get very many open looks. Baugh and Hellman are athletic and physical.

ND controlled the entire 1st half and the Birds were able to connect on just enough shots to stay close and actually bring the margin to 1 right before halftime. Once the Birds took the lead, they never relinquished it. Had opportunities to put it out of reach at the free throw line and didn't. Overall, a very entertaining game tonight.

Good Luck to the Pandas and Go Birds!

I already gave you my diagnosis!!! She is not allowed any physical activity until June! Safety first!!!

Now I don't mind if she plays in the bball districts against HC and Holmes, but outside of that, she should sit out the entire spring. I told your sball coach and he is in agreement!

The rival girls basketball team may be down from previous years.

But it still marked a huge win for the visitors from a pride standpoint Monday. The Highlands Ladybirds (12-1 overall) snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Notre Dame Pandas with a 42-34 victory in Park Hills. Highlands also stayed undefeated in 9th Region play as a result at 5-0.

Highlands had not beaten Notre Dame since a 66-43 win in Fort Thomas on Jan. 4, 2010 when Katie Allen, Bekah Towles and Hope Cutter were seniors. Notre Dame (5-8) has eliminated Highlands in the 9th Region Tournament the past three years.

Senior Lydia Graves had another outstanding game with 12 points. She made three three-pointers. Junior Brianna Adler followed with nine points.

Notre Dame saw just one player reach double-figures. That was sophomore Jenna Martin with 13.

Free-throw woes kept Highlands from putting the game away. The Ladybirds made just 8-of-17 for 47 percent and Notre Dame hit 5-of-7 for 71 percent.

Highlands finishes 36th District play Tuesday against Newport in Fort Thomas. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Great atmosphere in the gym last night. It was my first game of the season to see the Pandas and I agree with RCC...I expected them to not be very good based on record. Thankfully, I came away very impressed. They fought hard....fun game to watch. Go Pandas!

What a perfect headline pick! This game was physical!

From a non basketball perspective from one of the coaches and pretty much all of the fans. Highlands gym hot as ..... NDA icy cold, Highlands dark as night...NDA as bright as daylight. Funny seeing fans in hats and coats in the stands last night in Park Hills.

Perfect picture without that photog lurking in the background.

I've got the same problem with a bunch of my pics.

Plus that darn bear on the wall!

It was a good game to see. Glad I went.

How has Jenna Martin done thus far for NDA? She was a real good player at Grant Co.

Don't know up until this point, but she played well last night. She made a few mistakes, but she was pretty much in charge of handling the hhs pressure last night and that's not a easy task. My first time seeing her and I thought she was a nice player.

... have never met paNDA, but love his photos. What a contribution he makes to high school sports and memories for the athletes.

Thank you for say so but meeting me is not all that much fun. Enjoy the pics and who knows one day our paths will surely cross if you attend many games.

If the guy taking pics in the background could get his camera out of his holster he could have caught Panda taking pics from his angle...Just sayin

Talking about the pic in post 6 from Panda...
