Waggener 73 Southwestern 62

So hard to figure out these 12th region teams. One week they're beating top teams, the next they're losing to teams that probably shouldn't be within 10 pts of them.

I follow the 12th Region mostly because PP92 is my guy, but I agree. The Region as a whole seems to have really good wins, but also really bad losses.

Having said that, Waggener is talented and I don't consider this a bad loss. Not like the East Jessamine loss, at least.

I wouldn't consider this a bad loss either, but if Southwestern is as good as some of us have said, myself included, this isn't a game they should've lost, especially not by double digits.

For a team that can make an argument for being the top team in the 12th, losing by double digits to Waggener is s bad loss.

Waggner is a talented young team who can play with most teams. Not sure of team they played but Waggner has its up/downs because of their youth.

I'm sure they struggled with the athleticism of Waggener. But ultimately that's probably a good comparison of a top tier 12th region team to an upper mid 7th region team.

Waggener wasn't at full strength. They were missing two players in this one. Very impressive win for Waggener.

Sw struggled with their shot. They got the looks they wanted. 4-17 from 3 and shot 39 percent for the game. Like most teams this time of year tired legs I would say had alot to do with it. 9th game in 14 days and not many easy ones in there.

I know the LIT rankings logic gets some flack, but the combined pool of 6th & 7th region teams has Waggener as the 14th best team in those two regions. That may be a bit low, but their record is what it is. They are no doubt on paper a better team, sort of reminds you of North Laurel who on paper should have a better record. SW may have been tired, but same is true for their opponent. Each team has played many games in a short span. I would guess that the SW shooting woes also had to do with more challenged shots with the length and size of Waggener. The middle of the road teams from 6th & 7th will always have a chance of upsetting some higher ranked teams because they are tested for the most part week in and week out. Trinity blew Waggener out of the gym a few weeks ago. But Waggener probably benefited from that game despite losing badly.

True. Waggener probably has a better case for being wore out. If I ain't mistaken they had just got back from Florida.
