Looks to be down a bit at the D1 level. Most D1 guys will be signed On February 4th. is my count right only 25 or so D1 kids in this class out of 3,600? That's less than 1%. JUst shows how hard it is to be recruited at that level.

 

I wouldn't say our D1 commits are down. The national average is .7% pf all seniors go D1. The concern I would have is the level of D1 players the state produces. Only 5 have committed to the upper levels of D1 and that's assuming we consider Kentucky (Missed going to a bowl again) an upper level D1 program. I really only see 2 upper level commits (Harris-Alabama/Grayson Miller- Michigan State). Eventually we will see the need to invest in an off season program (Like Core 6 or IMG). Illinois, Indiana and Ohio have several of these type programs that elite HS players can get involved in to sharpen their skills in the off season.

I do think that would help. I think a big part of it is population. Ky has a population of around 4 mil. Oh 11.5 Mil Ind 6.5 Mil. OH should produce many more D-1/high level player just by the numbers of kids playing HS football.

I agree, But I think Kentucky ranks like 32 or so in the nation in D1 producing athletes. That's what we need to address. Ohio is ranked like 3 or 4.

The popularity of football probably plays a lot into it. High school basketball has always seemed to be a bigger event outside of the Catholic schools/community here in Kentucky.

100% corect D3 kids get 0 for there athletic sport. In fact numbers show they get the same grants schorlship as a normal student. Some find that hard to believe but that is what D3 is all about.
