March 26, 200620 yr Now that two private schools are playing for the girl's state championship, anyone care to guess how it will be next year? Will there be seperate championships for Public and Private? Weigh in because I think this game will have a big impact on that decision.
March 26, 200620 yr I think that this game proves that there should be seperate championchips. But, I really dobut if that will happen.
March 26, 200620 yr Nothing against either team, but it is really not fair. Put an asterick by these championships if you ask me??
March 26, 200620 yr I think that this game proves that there should be seperate championchips. But, I really dobut if that will happen. This is Rose Hill's first trip to the State Tournament in the 26 years the school has existed. I'd like to think they'll repeat again next season, but that's a tall order considering the competition they will face in the 16th Region. Even if they do repeat next year, it may be some time before they have the caliber of talent necessary to make another run of this type. Once in 26 years, although a tremendous accomplishment for the RH girls, is hardly the stuff of dynasties and dominance by private schools in Eastern Kentucky. Lex Cath may be another story. Even so, to discuss separating tournaments and championships only leads to the first logical step of separating classes into 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A so that the playing field is as level as possible. Unless Kentucky is willing to go to separate classes, the whole concept of separate public and private is pointless.
March 26, 200620 yr KY should keep the state tourney just the way it is, however, the private schools should not be allowed to compete. It just isn't fair!!

March 26, 200620 yr Nothing against either team, but it is really not fair. Lex Cath has more scholarships to offer than UK? Put an asterick by these championships if you ask me??I have to point out that this post could be interpreted as being a violation of Rule 4 4. No school-specific recruiting comments or allegations of KHSAA rules violations by any school, coach, or player are allowed. No talking about where any player lives, has lived, or where they are from in a recruiting context. This is not the place to report KHSAA violations. Feel free to contact http://www.khsaa.org to report such violations, but do not discuss violations here. If you want to post your opinions regarding public and private schools that's fine. Let's not start slinging mud without evidence. If you have valid evidence of misdeeds by any school, you need to contact the KHSAA.

I just gave my opinion on what the thread asked for!
March 26, 200620 yr I am not whining. The whole state knows that lexCath doesn't play by the same rules as the rest of the state. Has their ever been another team dominate like this school has?? Why not???? Because they get the best players to LC year in and year out. It doesn't take a genious to figure it out!! Let me make this very clear... this post is also flirting with violating Rule 4. If you have evidence, contact the KHSAA, otherwise, knock off the accusations.
March 26, 200620 yr IMO saying something is not fair or using an analogy to point out a fact (ie., that certain schools in effect have scholarships ... Uh, by the way they DO have scholarships, and more of them than say...UK which has a limited #). I dont even see these type statements as a dig at anyone, let alone a violation of BGP rules. Help me understand why its not simply a persons valid opinion? If good players choose to all attend one school, wouldn't that be a FACT and not an accusation of KHSAA rules? Also, trying to give balance to a discussion by stating a school has only "won" a lot for one (1) out of 26 years is a little off base I believe. When a school starts from zero with elementary students then gradually builds up their HS and doesn't even have enough students to field any sports teams, how can you start counting that as years they competed and didnt win? It seems the more accurate analysis would be to look at the first year they began fielding a team in the sport. Cheers, Woody Jr
March 26, 200620 yr You know this thread is so funny, especially when you consider that no one cried when two public schools played in the boys sweet sixteen. :irked:
March 26, 200620 yr I think the only comparison between Lex Cath and Rose Hill is there private school status. All but two of Rose Hill's players have attended the school for years, if not there whole school career. The two that transferred sat out a year and played nothing. Hardly a comparison between the two. And I will admit that I have very limited and most probably highly biased information about Lexington Catholic.
March 27, 200620 yr I have a question for all. Rose Hill has 77 students according to the information I read in one of the papers. Does anyone every envision a public school with only 77 students ever making the championship game of either boys/girls basketball?
